    Job Description:

    Maricopa County is seeking an Accounting and Eligibility Specialist to support the Correctional Health Services (CHS) department. This position involves processing financial transactions, handling vendor payments, reconciling accounts, and processing AHCCCS applications for Medicaid eligibility. The role is vital to ensuring accurate financial and medical claims data management, contributing to essential services for the incarcerated population.

    Key Responsibilities:

    · Process vendor payments, verify deliverables, and reconcile accounts payable/receivables.

    · Handle journal vouchers, invoices, and purchase orders.

    · Research and provide information for audits and vendor inquiries.

    · Process AHCCCS applications to determine Medicaid eligibility for patients.

    · Monitor and review medical service authorizations, including outpatient/inpatient claims and third-party payments.

    · Ensure compliance with policies on the safekeeping of Protected Health Information (PHI).

    · Collaborate with both internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve issues and provide support.

    Qualifications:

    · Required: High School diploma or GED; 3 years of clerical accounting, bookkeeping, or related administrative experience.

    · Preferred: Associate’s degree; experience in healthcare or government accounting; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and financial software.

    Work Experience Preferred

    • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite is preferred

    • Moderate to advanced experience with CGI/Advantage Financial Software Suite

    • Experience with accounts payable

    • Experience with Electronic Health Record system

    • Experience with insurance, billing rules, or claims processing

    Additional Requirements:

    · Ability to pass background check and drug screening.

    · Must be able to work inside a jail and travel to clinics and medical facilities.

    · Ability to perform tasks under deadlines and handle complex decision-making processes.
