Currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the company's receivables, ensuring timely collections, reconciling accounts, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal teams.
Responsibilities:
- Process and manage customer invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on past-due accounts to ensure timely collections.
- Communicate with customers regarding payment status, discrepancies, and account inquiries.
- Reconcile accounts receivable transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
- Post payments (checks, ACH, wire transfers, and credit cards) and apply them to the correct accounts.
- Investigate and resolve billing disputes, chargebacks, and short payments.
- Generate aging reports and provide regular updates on collection efforts.
- Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to address billing issues and improve customer satisfaction.
- Assist with month-end closing activities, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, financial regulations, and internal controls.
- Maintain proper documentation and records for audits and reporting purposes.
- Assist in process improvements to enhance efficiency in the accounts receivable function.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable, billing, or collections
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel
- Strong knowledge of accounts receivable processes, financial regulations, and best practices
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills for handling customer interactions
- High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and reconciliation
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to collections and dispute resolution
