    BACKGROUND

    The Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC), was created by and for members and operates as a member-owned 501(c)(6), not-for-profit entity. FS-ISAC serves as a bi-directional information and intelligence organization leading the financial services sector efforts to protect against and mitigate as-needed cyber and physical threats and incidents against financial firms.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The AR Specialist supports the entire process of invoicing and collecting payments from FS-ISAC's members and sponsors. They are responsible for creating invoices, credit memos, bank reconciliations, and following up on missed payments. The AR Specialist ensures accuracy and efficiency throughout our entire accounts receivable process. The AR Specialist will report directly to the Sr. AR Manager.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Create contracts, and sales orders and review existing contracts for completeness before invoicing
    • Manage contracts and their renewals within Salesforce
    • Ensures transactions are recorded promptly and accurately in accordance with internal accounting policies
    • Responsible for ad hoc customer billing and responding to customer inquiries regarding bills (Accounts Receivable case management system.)
    • Post cash receipts downloaded from bank accounts, via check payment and credit card payments to customer accounts.
    • Use customer payment portals such as Ariba/Coupa/Oracle to engage with members for invoice payment processing.
    • Prepare and support monthly and annual bank account reconciliations and Accounts Receivable Reconciliations.
    • Create financial reports relating to account receivable function and status of accounts
    • Ensure accurate receivable records and verify outstanding account balances
    • Manage collection activities including sending follow-up inquiries, and keeping track of cash receipts.
    • Audit methods and procedures of accounts receivable function to improve efficiency
    • Reconciliations of Deferred Revenue and other AR-related accounts.
    • Reconciliation and filing of state sales tax returns using Avalara.
    • Other duties as required

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    • Understanding of accounting principles
    • Experience in a busy, high-volume work environment with multiple duties at the same time.
    • Familiarity with advanced formulas in MS Excel (pivot tables, vlookup's)
    • Excellent analytical skills along with the ability to create and present detailed reports
    • Self-starter able to stay on task with minimal supervision
    • Attention to detail
    • Strong ability to follow written procedures and complete tasks on time.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to accurately process numerical data
    • Problem-solving attitude
    • Confidentiality

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance a plus
    • Experience working cases with customers
    • Accounting software such as Intacct or NetSuite
    • Salesforce Experience is a plus
    • Experience with Avalara Sales tax software a plus

    This position is located in Reston, VA. (Hybrid, 2 days per week in the office).
