Job Summary: We are seeking a creative and compassionate Activities Specialist to develop and lead engaging programs for our residents. This is a hybrid position, meaning that in addition to coordinating activities, the specialist will also serve as a caregiver when needed to cover shift shortages. The ideal candidate is flexible, energetic, and passionate about enhancing the lives of our residents through both meaningful engagement and high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and lead a variety of activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and needs.
Encourage resident participation in social, recreational, and therapeutic programs.
Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes engagement and well-being.
Coordinate outings, celebrations, and special events.
Work collaboratively with caregivers, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure activities align with residents’ care plans.
Step in as a caregiver during shift shortages, assisting residents with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and mobility support.
Maintain records of participation and adapt activities based on feedback and residents’ changing needs.
Qualifications:
Experience in activity coordination, recreation therapy, or a related field (preferred).
Passion for working with older adults or individuals with disabilities.
Flexibility and willingness to assist with caregiving duties when needed.
Strong communication, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to adapt activities to meet the diverse needs of residents.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Previous caregiving experience is a plus.
