    Senior Center Activity Assistant (Part-time/Non-Exempt)

    SUPERVISOR

    Reports to and works under the direct supervision of the Senior Center Director

    HOURS

    Varies. Day Hours. Weekend availability. Flexible work schedule.

    SALARY

    Starting at $10.00/hr.

    NATURE OF WORK

    The Senior Center Activity Assistant will assist the Senior Center Director and Senior Center Assistant Director with organizing, and implementing a diversified program of recreational, educational and social activities at the Senior Center that meets the needs, interests and abilities of individuals aged 60 and over in our service area. Must be able to work independently and part of a team to achieve organizational and Lancaster County Office of Aging goals.

    GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Implement daily programming, oversee and be an active participant/leader at all times within the senior center

    Supervise work assignments of participants, community volunteers

    Supervise lunch program

    Takes photos of programing for use in marketing via social media or written communication

    Stimulate cooperation among participants and strive to maintain group interest and involvement

    Uses afternoon planning and administration time effectively

    Maintain accurate/current records and complete reports in a timely manner (e.g., AAA, etc.)

    Assess the needs of participants experiencing difficulty and address appropriately, if necessary bring to director’s or OOA’s attention

    Educate participants in fundraising and encourage them to assist in planning and implementing successful events to support the senior center budget

    Assist in evaluating program outcomes

    Participate in team meetings, staff meetings and trainings

    Coordinate transportation as needed

    Maintain knowledge of current county and state Senior Center Program Directive (APD) requirements

    Communicate and work effectively with participants, coworkers and the public

    Provide a safe environment for all senior center activities

    Light cleaning as necessary

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

    Ability to use Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook

    Ability to learn and use Co-pilot our on-line data tracking system

    Preferred Experience working with older adults

    Current or willing to obtain CPR/First Aid/AED Certification

    Current or willing to obtain ServSafe Certification
