Job Overview:
- We are looking for amazing, caring Acute RNs to provide and coordinate patient care with excellence. They also provide education to patients and the public about illnesses, diseases, and heath conditions. They're licensed medical professionals who work with patients, doctors, and other health care workers. RNs provide a high level of direct care to patients and other duties as assigned. The Acute Care RN is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients across various acute care settings, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care, focusing on patient’s physical and emotional well-being while upholding the highest standards of clinical excellence.
Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 years of recent experience.
- A solid foundation in critical care nursing is essential. This includes experience in assessing and caring for critically ill patients, managing complex medical conditions, and responding effectively to emergencies.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ medical conditions, including vital signs, pain levels, neurologic status, and psychological factors.
- Develop comprehensive care plans tailored to individual patient needs, incorporating evidence-based practices, physician orders, and interdisciplinary input.
- Administer medications via various routes, including intravenous, oral, and subcutaneous, adhering to medication safety protocols and dosing calculations.
- Perform complex treatments and procedures with precision and proficiency, such as wound care, central line maintenance, and medication titration.
- Monitor and interpret patient vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and lab values, recognizing subtle changes in patient conditions and responding promptly.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of patient responses to treatments and interventions, adjusting care plans and collaborating with the healthcare team as needed to optimize patient outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, physical therapists, and social workers, to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
- Communicate pertinent patient information, changes, in patient status, and care plans clearly and concisely during interdisciplinary rounds and handoffs.
- Provide comprehensive education and counseling to patients and families regarding their medical conditions, treatment options, medication regimens, and strategies for managing symptoms and promoting health.
- Address patient and family concerns, questions, and anxieties with empathy and professionalism.
- Maintain accurate and detailed Electronic Health Records, documenting patient assessments, interventions, responses to treatment, and multidisciplinary care plans in accordance with regulatory standards and facility policies.
- Ensure timely and thorough documentation of all clinical activities, including medication administration records, progress notes, discharge summaries, and incident reports.

Experience Preferences:
- 3 years or prior experience working for the VA may receive a more favorable rating.
Education Requirements:
- Current, valid, and unrestricted state license for Registered Nurse.
- All continuing education courses required for maintaining certification, degrees, and/or licenses must be always kept up to date. The Contractor shall provide documentation verifying current certification to the VA COR upon request.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) are required.
Schedule:
- May be required to work in areas of the highest need on the date of their scheduled shifts.
- Coverage may include weekends, federal holidays, days, evenings, or overnights, and are variable within a 24-hour period.
- RNs shall be required to work any regular or irregular tour, with 8-hour and 12-hour tours typically being:
8 Hour Tour:
- Day: 7:30AM - 4:00PM
- Evening: 3:30PM - 12AM
- Night: 11:30AM - 8:00AM
12 Hour Tour:
- Day: 7:00AM - 7:30PM
- Night: 7:00PM - 7:30AM
