ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Transitions Clinic is a harm reduction based addiction medicine clinic dedicated to providing equal access to medications for addiction treatment. The Medical Assistant is responsible for ensuring that practice operations are adequately conducted and usually has the most interactions with practice patients and vendors. The medical assistant is often the first point of contact for prospective patients, as such we are searching for someone who is enthusiastic and kind and will treat our patients with unconditional positive regard. This role requires professionalism, organization, proper grammar and writing, and excellent communication skills. The roles and responsibilities for this position below provide a baseline of duties one will need to fill this position. (These roles and responsibilities are subject to change at practice discretion).
· · Greeting and Engaging with Patients
· Answering Phone
· Perform all duties within HIPAA regulations.
· Patient intake/discharge
· Scheduling/Rescheduling Appointments
· Providing Patient with resources and FAQs
· Checking in patients/ Rooming Patients
· Maintaining Patient Accounts
· Receiving/Processing Payment
· Cash Deposits (internally)
· Checking Fax, emails, and patient communications
· Supporting Administration Staff (making calls/sending correspondence/setting up meeting/etc)
· Inventory Control
· Opening and Closing Practice
· Other duties as assigned
· Contributes to team effort!!!
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
· Graduate of a certified medical office training course.
· High school graduate or equivalent required.
· 2 years of experience at a healthcare facility in a medical receptionist role (Required).
· 2 years addiction medicine experience (Required).
· Working knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, ICD, and CPT coding (highly advantageous).
· Personality and demeanor to deal with the public and assist ill, older, or distraught patients.
· Familiarity with phone systems.
· Previous experience with Microsoft Office software.
· Good organizational skills
