    Adjunct, Art History and Art Appreciation

    St. Clair County Community College is accepting resumes for part-time instructors (adjunct faculty) to teach the following courses.

    ART 120 – Art Appreciation

    ART 221 – Art of the Western World I

    ART 222 – Art of the Western World II

    FLSA Status: Exempt

    Compensation: 2024/2025 Academic Year

    Master's degree (or higher) rate = $631 per contact hour

    Contact hours vary depending on course offering

    • Teaching assignment may include a full range of first and second year visual arts offerings within the visual arts
    • Teaching responsibilities include teaching, maintaining scheduled office hours, and advising students
    • Participation in developing and improving academic courses
    • Morning, afternoon, evening and online offerings may be available

    JOB SUMMARY: To design and deliver instruction to students

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Prepare and deliver academic instruction, including developing syllabi, developing content and administering assessments
    • Maintain and submit necessary class records, including early alert and final grade reports and attendance verification for financial aid compliance
    • Participate in student grade appeal procedures
    • Observe college calendar
    • Post and maintain conference hours
    • Participate in assessment of student learning and assessment reporting according to assessment plan

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Master’s Degree in Art History or Studio Art (Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, Photography and Ceramics); or Master’s Degree with 18 graduate hours in Art History
    • Teaching experience at the higher education level preferred
    • All academic degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university
    • Ability to maintain good relationships with students, staff, and community members

    • Possess and maintain Class A or B CDL
    • Must have Passenger and Air Brake endorsements
    • Must be a careful, patient, non-aggressive driver with an excellent driving record
    • Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug test, and back screen per DOT regulations as required
    • Ability to load and unload luggage, to 80 pounds
    • Clean driving record and insurable by the Company insurance carrier
    • Criminal records will be reviewed closely
    • Capable of regulating off duty time to get proper rest when sitting for prolonged periods of time in between scheduled stops
    • Skilled with maneuvering a coach in tight places without any incidents or damage
    • Adept defensive driving techniques
    • Ability to be on time for all assignments
    • Exceptional customer service and ability to act in a courteous and professional manner at all times, regardless of the circumstances
    • Ability to maintain a professional appearance
    • Proficient with reading maps and GPS, searching for locations and/or directions on-line when necessary, and correctly following directions
    • Computer literate and able to learn and efficiently use different software programs to include electronic logs, and automatic on board recording devices
    • Speak, read and write English fluently
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to work under pressure with strict timelines
    • Knowledge and practical use of US Department of Transportation regulations pertaining to driving commercial vehicles.
