    Clinical Teaching Assistant – ADN Program:

    Supports and/or facilitates learning experiences in clinical, laboratory or simulation practice settings, in accordance with the Texas Board of Nursing, accreditation agencies, and Grayson College Associate Degree Nursing policies and procedures.

    This is a part-time position which pays $40.00/hour.

    Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

    Assists with supervision of student clinical learning experiences when the qualified and experienced faculty member is physically present in the affiliate agency or alternative practice setting with a faculty to student ratio of 2:15 (faculty plus clinical teaching assistant).

    Participates in training sessions with ADN faculty for an orientation to clinical teaching and to establish a mutual plan to enable students to meet clinical objectives.

    Plans and coordinates with the nursing faculty member to provide learning experiences related to clinical objectives.

    Provides input into verbal and written formative evaluation of students and clinical experiences to measure the attainment of objectives.

    Assists Lab Coordinator with set-up and clean-up of skills lab and simulation lab, as well as ordering and maintenance of equipment and supplies.

    Assists with supervision of various learning activities in skills lab and simulation lab.

    Demonstrates strong commitment to implementing student engagement within curriculum.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    Experience: Minimum of three years of current professional clinical nursing experience.

    Education: Registered Nurse in the State of Texas with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

    Certifications/License: Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.

    Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

    Other Skills: Prepares documents on the computer, using Canvas or other online course system. Designs presentations using computer programs.

    Physical Requirements: The work requires moderate physical exertion which includes standing, walking, bending, and lifting of objects up to 50 pounds.

    Work Environment: A classroom environment. This position may require moderate travel to clinical class sites. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, coats, gowns, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.
