JOB DESCRIPTION
This part-time role may include both administrative and teaching duties, with the specific balance adjusted based on your strengths and interests. This role could be divided to only include teaching or administrative duties. Candidates are encouraged to indicate their interests in their cover letter.
Under the direction of the Executive Director and Head of School, this part time administrative assistant and generalist teacher will:
Collaborate with a lead administrative assistant to maintain established administrative systems, keep appropriate records, and follow New School procedures and practices.
Provide a warm and supportive environment that encourages risk-taking and joy in learning, and provides extensions and supports for a variety of learning styles and abilities.
Plan and teach engaging classes both in the classroom and outdoors. Guide and support students during their academic work on Friday mornings and collaborate closely with other teachers to ensure a cohesive learning experience. Take a pre-built curriculum and shape it to the unique needs of the students.
For the right candidate, this role could also include the opportunity to manage social media marketing, including planning, designing, and maintaining a consistent presence throughout the year.
They will communicate effectively with parents, other staff, and members of the New School community. They will maintain appropriate records and follow New School procedures and practices.
This position is up to 20 hours per week including paid prep time. This position begins March 2025.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree.
Ideal candidates will have either an elementary or middle school teaching license and/or experience in administrative positions in an education setting.
Expired licenses, out of state licenses, or students who are graduating from a teacher's college or graduate program during the Spring 2024 semester are also eligible to apply.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

The ideal candidate will:
Work effectively with students, parents, community members, and colleagues.
Be a team player with a willingness to jump in as needed and support fellow team members.
Be confident leading a group of 16 students outdoors independently. Be comfortable working outdoors in all conditions.
Demonstrate confidence in lesson planning and execution. The individual will need to adapt the curriculum independently and assess its efficacy for their particular cohort.
Have a strong understanding of the middle school age group and their particular social-emotional and academic needs.
Demonstrate a talent for building positive, professional relationships with students to help each student reach their highest potential.
