  • Responsibilities

    Warren Wilson College invites applications for an Admissions Counselor. Under the guidance of the Director of Admissions, the Admissions Counselor will serve as a front-line ambassador, attracting and recruiting prospective students. This position is responsible for cultivating applications from a specific geographic recruitment territory, communicating and collaborating with prospective students, families, school counselors, and enrollment professionals to increase awareness of our undergraduate programs and achieve specific enrollment goals. The Admissions Counselor position requires the ability to travel and work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends. We are looking for a motivated individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, someone who is excited about traveling and meeting new people, and a team player committed to achieving enrollment goals.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree.
    • One year of relevant experience with extensive communication in a customer facing role on the phone, via email, and in person.
    • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Suite.
    • Valid driver's license required.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • One to three years of experience working in an office of higher education, providing familiarity with college and university programs, majors, admissions requirements and processes, and scholarship and financial aid resources.
    • Proficiency and demonstrated experience utilizing a CRM system, preferably Slate.
    • Experience in sales, customer service, or relationship management.

    Key Responsibilities

    Coordinate and manage student recruitment:

    • Work with members of the enrollment division to develop and implement strategies to generate and complete undergraduate applications for admission.
    • Respond to inquiries and provide accurate and timely information regarding application policies and procedures in accordance with Warren Wilson's established messaging.
    • Conduct the review and selection of applicants in a thorough and timely manner.
    • Attend college fairs and plan high school and college campus visits to generate interest and cultivate relationships (up to 8-10 weeks of travel per year).
    • Communicate with advisors and counselors to cultivate strong relationships and develop enrollment pipelines.
    • Conduct activity related to the conversion of applications throughout the enrollment funnel.
    • Assist in all on-campus/off-campus recruitment events.
    • Become an expert user in the admissions CRM (Slate), and developing contact strategies, sending communications, and building relationships.
    • Gain general working knowledge of the financial aid process in collaboration with the Financial Aid Office.

    Data Management & Reporting:

    • Provide comprehensive and detailed notes in CRM related to each applicant post visit, communications made, and application review.
    • Ensure accurate data entry of students in admissions and campus-wide information systems.

    Campus Relationships:

    • Develop strong, productive relationships across campus, but especially with the Financial Aid Office, CELC, Registrar, and faculty partners.

    • Support and set a strong professional example for members of the admissions crew and other current students working in the office. Develop professional relationships with and training for the admissions student work crew.

    • Serve as a reliable member of the admissions team. Represent the Office of Admissions with other areas such as Orientation, Advancement, and other committees if needed. Attend campus events and facilitate campus-wide involvement in recruitment and admissions activities.

    • Continually consider the impact of work on other campus constituencies, with an eye towards partnership.

    • Be knowledgeable of the recruitment guidelines developed by NACAC (National Association of College Admissions Counselors) and its partner organizations (SACAC, PNACAC, etc.)

    • Develops, maintains, and works within a realistic budget, with specific attention to special projects and ongoing department needs. Works with the Director of Admissions to establish a territory specific recruitment budget.

    • Reconciles credit card statements, collects and submits all departmental check requests to the office of Administration and Finance. Prepares Pre-Travel authorization and budget information for approval.

    • Additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned by the Director of Admissions.

    • Other duties as assigned.
