    About the organization: Compass Family Services is a 100+ year old nonprofit working on the front lines of San Francisco's homeless crisis. We provide families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with comprehensive support to address immediate needs and ensure long-term success.

    About the Program: Adopt-a-Family pairs individuals, families, civic groups, and corporate teams with Compass families who are homeless or at imminent risk and lack the resources to buy holiday gifts. For many families, these gifts will be the only gifts they will receive during the holidays.

    Compensation: $28 per hour. This is a non-benefit-eligible role.

    Schedule: This is a temporary position that will run from November 11 – December 23.

    - November 11 - Dec 3: part time, Monday-Friday, 4 hours/day (remote days)

    - Dec 4 - December 20: full time, 5-6 days per week. Schedule will include two weekend days, December 7 and December 14. (in-person days).

    What the Adopt-A-Family Project Coordinator will do:
    The Project Coordinator will help ensure the success of this year's Adopt-a-Family by providing administrative support as well as significant hands-on support with the implementation of the project. Specific responsibilities include:

    • Format client wish lists to be shared with donors and help with the process of pairing client families and donors.
    • Answer questions from case managers and donors regarding Adopt-a-Family via email and in-person.
    • Set up and manage a schedule through Calendly for donors to sign up to drop off gifts and for case managers to sign up families to pick up gifts.
    • Set up storage units to receive and store gifts.
    • Assist in coordination and execution of receiving gifts from donors and distributing gifts to families during gift drop-off and pick-up period (December 7 – 20), including providing oversight and support of volunteers.
    • Keep the gifts well organized and accessible.
    • This position requires many hours on your feet each day lifting boxes.

    The Adopt-A-Family Project Coordinator should have these skills:

    • Energetic and loves the holidays
    • Passion for the mission of Compass Family Services
    • Competency with Excel and Word or similar programs; experience with Salesforce preferred
    • Skilled at managing many details and logistics
    • Strong communication skills
    • Ability to manage volunteers and interact with donors and clients
    • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and spend hours on your feet
    • Work experience preferred, especially in customer service
    • Candidates who speak fluent Spanish will receive extra consideration, but all are encouraged to apply!

    Location and Covid safety:

    • Work location: the majority of the project assignment will require the individual to work on-site at our 37 Grove Street office and SOMA Storage (11th and Mission).
    • Covid vaccination required for all staff
