    Brief Duties and Responsibilities: This is a professional position coordinating the Walla Walla County Superior Court Adult Pretrial Services Program, which includes the provisioning of a risk and needs assessment, adult Electronic Home Monitoring (EHM) and urinalysis services for Walla Walla County Superior Court under the supervision of the Department of Court Services. Typical functions include: Assessing adult pretrial defendants for risk to reoffend and treatment needs; urinalysis testing, oral swab testing, tracking and reporting via the Sentry (UA) Program; Electronic Home Monitoring (EHM) of both pretrial and sentenced adults; and frequent court and case management work. Typical responsibilities include adult pretrial monitoring and supervision; determining release risk level through use of a validated assessment tool; investigating defendant suitability for placement onto pretrial release conditions including Electronic Home Monitoring; communicating via text and phone calls with pretrial defendants to remind them of upcoming court hearings; collection of urinalysis samples; administering oral swab drug testing; providing written and verbal updates to Prosecutor, Defense, and the Court as requested; tracking and entering Adult Pretrial Services Program data to measure agency outcomes and performance measures. The Adult Services Officer monitors EHM and UA compliance and works closely with Corrections Officers, the Jail Commander, the Court Services Manager, law enforcement, DOC Community Field Officers, service and treatment providers, defense attorneys, Prosecutors, and the Court, to ensure adults released from Jail back into the community adhere to court ordered conditions of pretrial release. Work is performed with considerable professional independence. Work involves daily contact with in-custody and out-of-custody adults charged with or convicted of criminal offenses, their support systems, community agencies, and employers, state agencies, and treatment providers. Work involves the facilitation of supportive services for defendants balanced with ensuring compliance with court-ordered conditions of release. Work is performed in and outside of the office environment, in carceral settings, and requires client home and work visits. This position may have specialized assignments including assisting with monitoring and supervising juveniles placed on Electronic Home Monitoring and collecting UA and oral swabs from ARC, FTC, and juvenile clients. General supervision is provided by the Court Services Director who reviews work for adherence to required standards, procedures, and department policies through written reports and conferences with the person in this position.

    Working Environment/Physical Abilities: Duties involve working both in an office setting, court rooms, carceral settings, and at various locations within the County. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, reach, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds from the ground level to a waist level. Required to have visual and hearing acuity and manual dexterity to perform the functions of the position. Position is subject to a flexible work schedule as deemed necessary by the department.

    Minimum Qualifications: Education And Experience: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social sciences, psychology, sociology, or other closely related field required. Two years’ experience in the criminal justice field. Bilingual skills in Spanish are desirable. Licenses And Other Requirements: Possess a valid Driver’s License and successfully pass a driving record check. First Aid and CPR certification must be obtained and maintained during employment. Must successfully pass a thorough background investigation and criminal history check. Must successfully complete trainings and academies as directed by the Court Services Director, TBD.
