Mission - The mission is to lead engaging and challenging classes for the after-school students that will prepare them to be in the top 5 students of their day school class. Coach prioritizes correct and complete homework, critical reasoning, and finishes each day with enrichment, fun, and coach-led activities.
Classroom Management
Ensure the children’s safety and well being at all times
Create a welcoming, engaging environment to cultivate fun and learning within the classroom
Plan, gather, and organize materials needed for activities
Evaluate each student using the DESSA system 3 times a year, and provide reports from DESSA to parents 2 times a year
Incorporate resources and results from the DESSA reports in daily instruction
Report all injuries immediately in the incident log and insurance report
Alert supervisor immediately of any concerns or injuries regarding a child
Homework Guidance & Tutoring Coaches are required to have ALL students show their homework assignments at the beginning of each session, each day
Check backpacks & homework books (even if the child claims to have no homework)
Students must show each completed assignment for the coach to approve.
Sign your initials in pen in the corner of each child’s assignment when complete and accurate
Coaches must be able to understand and explain common core standards for grades K-5
Reporting and Timelines
Sign all children into class each day
Accurate notes must be kept on the attendance, work habits & progress of each child
Take daily meal counts on forms provided
Clean environment
Spray tables and chairs with bleach solution
Clean the classroom to be exactly as you found it
Discard all trash off tables and floors before exiting the classroom
Parent Relations
Inform parents about the progress of their children on a daily basis
Discuss incomplete homework with the person picking up the child if the homework hasn’t been completed before the end of after school
Team Participation
Participate in two professional developments per month
Participate in team weekly planning
Accept tasks in quarterly theme
Incorporate CLASS training and Net Promoter Score
Labor Description
Part Time Staff Member
Can use steps to office and lift up to 45 pounds if needed
Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping
Climb up and down stairs
Have mobility, vision, and hearing required to ensure the safety and consistent supervision of children
Fluency in English preferred, as well as bilingual speakers of Spanish, Bengali, Nepali, Tibetan, etc... preferred
Speak clearly and correctly in English, so that children with other home languages hear the sounds correctly in class
Spend time sitting on the floor or on child sized furniture
Ensure supplies are being properly used, organized, and returned
Clean and maintain equipment and facility
Work with children on the floor
Work outdoors
Light typing and word processing for parent communication
Stand and walk for prolonged periods
Work in an environment filled with children’s voices
Qualifications
At least 60 credits in a Bachelors Degree
One previous year of experience in school age day care
2nd language preferred (Bengali, Tibetan, Spanish, Mandarin)
Ability to correctly and accurately complete homework based on common core standards for elementary school aged children
Availability Monday - Friday, 2:00PM - 6:30PM, minimum commitment until June 2020
