The After School Program Mentor is responsible for leading and facilitating engaging after-school programs and activities for children and adolescents. This role involves creating a safe and supportive environment where students can participate in educational, recreational, and social activities that promote their development and well-being.
Mentors are expected to take the lead in supporting youth and families through ongoing one-on-one, and/or group services. Their role is to:
Serve as a positive role model and support partner
Provide effective guidance and skill building techniques
Build positive relationship by planning and participating in activities together
Build self-esteem and encourage personal motivation for youth and adults
Assist in goal-setting and set objectives for goal attainment
Advocate for youth and their family
Team Requirements:
Be at least 18 years old
Have experience with adolescent youth and/or families
Attend required training sessions
Ability to deliver effective, evidence-based, behavioral interventions applicable to individual service plans
Be able to adhere to all program policies and procedures
Be dependable and adhere to time commitments
Be able to communicate regularly with program staff, submit activity reports, and plan and implement interventions that align with mentee objectives and goals
Be available to work with mentees a minimum of three days a week, including after school hours and weekends
Be willing to travel up to 50 miles; licensed driver in good standing
Have a clean criminal history
