Job Description

AECOM is seeking an entry-level scientist with experience performing air quality assessments and modeling, noise and vibration monitoring and technical report preparation. Field work in both urban and rural communities will be required.

The position will be hybrid position based in New York City or one of our northern New Jersey Offices.

Duties performed by an entry level scientist generally include:

• Collecting noise and vibration data in the field using calibrated meters.
• Assist senior scientists with air quality modelling and assessments.
• Data management, collect and enter data and apply technical principles and theories.
• Work individually or as member of a team and take the initiative to resolve problems, communicate with others, and create improved procedures to assure tasks are completed in an efficient manner.
• Interact in a professional and respectful manner with client representatives.
• Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope.
• Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS in Environmental Engineering, Meteorology, Physics, Mathematics or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with GIS and/or CAD.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook, etc.
• Valid Driver’s License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
• Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required,

Preferred Qualifications:

• Graduate Degree
• HAZWOPER (40-hour) certification or similar health and safety training.
• NYSDEC Permitting skills. power sector permitting a plus.
• Possess strong organization, oral, written, and objective analytical skills.
