    Overview:

    We are seeking a friendly, organized, and customer-focused Host/Hostess to join our team at Alamo Cafe. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for our guests, ensuring a warm welcome and a seamless dining experience. This role is pivotal in creating a positive first impression and managing the flow of the dining area efficiently.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Guest Reception: Greet guests as they arrive with a friendly and welcoming demeanor. Ensure each guest feels acknowledged and valued.
    • Seating Management: Manage reservations and walk-ins, efficiently coordinating seating arrangements to maximize table turnover while maintaining a smooth flow of service.
    • Reservation Handling: Handle phone calls for reservations, cancellations, and inquiries about the restaurant. Maintain an organized digital reservation system.
    • Waitlist Coordination: Manage the waitlist during busy periods, provide accurate wait times, and keep guests informed about their table status.
    • Menu Presentation: Present menus to guests, explain specials, and provide information on menu items when needed. Providing guests with chips and salsa prior to seating them.
    • Customer Service: Address guest concerns or complaints promptly and courteously. Ensure guest satisfaction by providing excellent customer service.
    • Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain a tidy and organized host/hostess station and front entrance area. Ensure menus are clean and presentable.
    • Collaboration: Work closely with servers, bussers, and kitchen staff to ensure efficient service and a positive dining experience for all guests.
    • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all restaurant policies, health, and safety regulations. Follow protocols for handling guest information and privacy.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience: Previous experience as a host/hostess or in a customer service role is preferred but not required.
    • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Appearance: Professional appearance and demeanor.
    • Flexibility: Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
    • Technology: Familiarity with reservation and point-of-sale systems is a plus.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to stand for extended periods.
    • Ability to move quickly and efficiently throughout the dining area.
    • Ability to lift and carry items up to [weight limit, typically 10-20 pounds].
