We have enabled financial institutions to create deeper, more profitable lending relationships within their existing customer base, while helping millions of hardworking individuals gain access to credit at fair, transparent pricing. Our proprietary advanced analytics risk engine is in production with a TOP 10 U.S. BANK originating over $100 MILLION OF LOANS PER MONTH FOR OVER 3 YEARS.

The 2021 Opportunity

The credit industry is increasingly recognizing the importance of FINANCIAL INCLUSION, which has been our purpose since inception. Systemic inequities have been exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic, and President Biden and major banks are looking for a solution. Many studies from the CFPB and public policy think tanks have shown that traditional credit scores exacerbate these past inequities  and put minority Americans at a disadvantage. Ultimately, we want to use our expertise to create a solution that can improve the standard of living of hardworking Americans and thereby benefit society.

Position Summary

An opportunity for a SENIOR FULL-STACK ENGINEER to join a growing MACHINE LEARNING AND BIG DATA ANALYTICS ORGANIZATION has become available. This is an excellent opportunity to work on exciting projects that are vital to the company's expansion.

As a FULL-STACK ENGINEER, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining Aliya’s next-generation applications. This role will provide an opportunity to make substantial contributions into the design and implementation of our platform's software and infrastructure and improve its capacity, scalability and security.

Additionally, the engineer will work closely with Aliya’s Data Science team to optimize integration between our software, machine learning models and infrastructure related to our Data Science platform.

This role is currently a FULL-TIME POSITION, but other arrangements can be made for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

·         Help design the overall architecture of various web and backend applications.

·         Maintain quality and ensure responsiveness of all applications.

·         Work with software architects on designing and implementing database (SQL) schemas.

·         Collaborate with the rest of the technology and product teams to design and launch new features.

·         Maintain our automated testing within all our CI/CD pipelines in GitHub, as well as partake in code reviews.

·         Work with our CISO to ensure we meet all our strict security requirements, due to the sensitive nature of the data Aliya works with.

·         Ensure all software written for our production environments are highly available as well as working with our DevOps engineers to help implement changes with no downtime.

·         Stay on top of the latest and greatest in open-source technology.

·         Contribute to Aliya’s overall knowledge base.

Required Skills/Experience

·         Demonstrable experience in a BACKEND AND FRONTEND ENGINEERING role.

o   Aliya's backend development primarily happens in PYTHON.

o   Aliya's frontend development primarily happens in REACTJS.

·         Experience in architecting solutions using AWS.

·         Very good knowledge of DOCKER containers and related tooling.

·         Understanding of REST APIS and MICROSERVICE ARCHITECTURES.

·         Experience with building HIGHLY AVAILABLE software.

·         Comfortable with use and administration of GIT, standard git workflows, GITHUB and GITHUB ACTIONS.

·         Best practices when designing, implementing and maintaining SCHEMAS for SQL databases, specifically MYSQL.

·         Superb at COMMUNICATION, DOCUMENTING, DEBUGGING and PROBLEM SOLVING.

·         Our ideal candidate has a degree in computer science or a related field, but we will also consider highly skilled applicants who are self-taught.

Preferred Skills/Experience

·         Some prior legacy systems are built in PHP, so some knowledge of PHP is preferred.

·         Knowledge with SWAGGER / OPENAPI and its ecosystem of tools.

·         Understanding of GRAPHQL and its ecosystem of tools.

·         Development experience for both mobile and desktop.

·         Experience working within a secure environment, as Aliya has to maintain a tight security profile across all cloud environments.
