Construction Estimator – Banking Industry Construction – Base Salary to 90k/year – Arlington Heights, IL

• Our client is a commercial GC that specializes in construction on financial businesses throughout Illinois and the upper Midwest. Projects range from remodeling to full ground up, largely for the banking and retail industries. They have been in the business since 1972, and pride themselves on proactive project management and a collaborative, problem solving culture.

• In this role, the Construction Estimator will be responsible for bidding jobs in the banking/financial construction industry, to include negotiating with subcontractors and performing takeoffs. This will involve hands-on, in-office collaboration with the PMs and Ops teams, as well as occasional travel to job sites, including (infrequently) out of state. The Construction Estimator should have experience with Estimating as a major scope of work, either as an Estimator, PE, PM, or Superintendent. Looking for analytical minds who can work well with others.

Responsibilities:

• Review and analyze blueprints, specs, proposals, and other documentation
• Calculate accurate labor, equipment, and material costs for commercial construction jobs
• Prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, and services
• Coordinate subcontractor bids, including preparing bid invitations, reviewing incoming bids for scope and pricing, scheduling site visits with subcontractors to review the scope of projects, acquiring best pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, and developing bid presentations
• Make estimates when predetermined standards are unavailable
• Work with the Operations team throughout the preconstruction process in reviewing plans and specifications for constructability issues and determining general requirements on the project
• Build and maintain strong client relationships
• Attend pre-bid meetings, as necessary
• Prepare project documents, material release schedules, client information, project schedules and other documentation to assure a steady stream of information to the Project Managers
• Travel to job sites as necessary to collect measurements and photographs
• Collaborate with different teams to bid on projects

Qualifications:

• 2+ years Estimating experience required, commercial construction preferred
• Must be able to work full time in the Arlington Heights office, with some travel for site walks
• GC experience preferred
• Computer-savvy, proficiency with Excel required, proficiency with Estimating software preferred
• Experience with Design and/or Project Management is a plus
• Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret plans and specifications relative to the scope of work and schedule specified for each project within bid time frames
• Must have experience with architectural and structural drawings
• Must have experience building relationships with subcontractors
• Must have the ability to *occasionally* travel to different cities/states for 2-3 days at a time

Compensation:

• Base salary in the 70k - 90k/year range, dependent on experience
