JOB OVERVIEW:
The Electrical Maintenance Technician installs, tests, repairs, and maintains electrical or electronic plant production machinery, support equipment, building, and other systems throughout the site to maintain optimum operating conditions and plant productivity. The Electrical Maintenance Technician also assists with related upgrades, improvements, and assigned projects as required. The Electrical Maintenance Technician is expected to report to and assist with both electrical and mechanical issues.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Receives and performs job assignments through work orders, sketches, PM schedules, blueprints, or verbal instructions. Follows applicable codes and regulations on work performed.
Troubleshoot equipment through the use of PLC Programs, manuals, and diagrams as necessary.
Responds to emergency requests for repairs/replacements, including fire system malfunctions which may be reported during off-hours.
Troubleshoots all malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate and remedy the breakdown or malfunction.
Installation of conduits, wire connections to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair. Ensures compliance to code.
Repairs and maintains various production machinery and equipment, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and parts.
Installs, modifies, and relocates machinery and equipment and will perform other maintenance tasks in addition to electrical-related work.
Repairs and modifies building and plant systems as required.
Reads and interprets PLC programs, manuals, schematics, blueprints, drawings, and other written installation and repair instructions.
Performs routine inspections, breakdown maintenance, and preventative maintenance of all plant equipment. Examples include machinery and systems, including gauges, filters, fluid levels, system readings, cooling towers, gas burners, air compressors, chillers, viscometers, material handling systems (Dalmec), and die-cutting machines, etc.
Requisitions and secures materials, tools, and supplies needed for assignments.
Uses various measuring and testing equipment to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, and systems.
Uses a wide range of shop, hand, and power tools common to the various trades applied.
Maintains specified records, logs, and system readings.
Possesses knowledge of mechanical blueprint reading.
Document all work completed on MP2 work orders.
Follow prescribed environmental, safety, and health rules.
Complies with sanitation guidelines and good manufacturing practices related to neatness, product cleanliness, and personal hygiene.
Other tasks as assigned by maintenance lead or Technical Manager
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
High level of experience and proficiency in the function, mechanics, and operation of all Maintenance equipment
Understands adheres to and reinforces OHSE policies and directives
Ability to work independently and in concert with Mechanical technicians and production co-workers on electrical and mechanical issues.
Minimum 4 years manufacturing work experience and 1-year Maintenance Technician ll, with experience & training to include:
Allen Bradley PLC (SLC-500 and/or PLC5)
Eurotherm Drive (590-690 Series)
Siemens Drives S7 / PLC
Process Control & Instrumentation (temperature, flow, pressure, level, etc.)
Power Distribution (480 VAC & below)
Machine Controls
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Combination of technical training equivalent to that generally obtained in a two-year college or apprenticeship program.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/BEHAVIOURS:
Good computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office
Can perform all required PM checklists (Primary, Slitting, Pouching)
Can perform all required ISO Calibration for plant production equipment.
Knowledge of general maintenance techniques, processes, and procedures for repairing, installing, and modifying various company equipment, systems, and facilities.
Must be skilled in using basic hand, shop, and power tools and a wide range of test and measuring equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maintenance manuals, schematics, and drawings.
Ability to conduct various tests on systems and must know and apply appropriate regulations and standards.
Forklift Certification or ability to obtain same.
Practical oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and make decisions on the most appropriate approach to solving problems.
Practical, creative thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
Good critical judgment and initiative.
Ability to cooperate reasonably with others to follow safety procedures and prevent injuries.
Experience in the printing and converting industries is desirable.
