    Job Description

    Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the QA Lab Coordinator will direct the daily activities of the QA Lab technicians, analyze quality control test results and provide feedback and interpretation to management or production, monitor performance of quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency, communicate quality control information to all relevant organizational departments, outside vendors, customers, or contractors.

    Coordinate Quality Lab Functions and daily activities of Lab Technicians:

    • Testing for incoming inspection
    • Testing of production
    • Testing required by Regulatory or Certification Agencies
    • Raw material chemical testing
    • Calibration Program
    • Evaluation of customer returns through RMA Program
    • Coordinate (and conduct, when necessary) root cause investigations of returned products and materials from customers
    • Address and correct (with assistance from QA Manager/Engineers) issues found in production departments
    • Stop production if significant product defects are present.
    • Communicate issues with suppliers/other departments to correct issues
    • Return of rejected material to suppliers
    • Communicate with suppliers any issues that should be corrected/improved
    • Control runs of trial parts both internally and externally
    • Ensure all lab technicians are appropriately trained for lab testing procedures and equipment
    • Keeping Lab documentation current (WI, JSA, FE or Subcomponent Performance Testing Records)
    • Interpret and comply with quality assurance standards
    • Review quality data and lab equipment performance to find opportunities for improvement
    • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Mechanically/technically inclined
    • Transport & lift within Job & OSHA guidelines up to 50 lbs. as needed during shift
    • Pass Drug Test and Job Medical Fitness Review
    • Understand/use blueprints & precise inspection equipment
    • Work well with other Depts./EE’s to achieve quality/goals
    • Operate test equipment
    • Inspection, testing & recordkeeping in timely manner
    • Follow verbal & written instructions
    • Must maintain acceptable evaluation/attendance
    • Minimum High School Diploma or GED required
    • 3-5 years of laboratory/Quality Control experience preferred
    • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is preferred
    • Ability to read blueprints and take precision measurements
    • Be able to work independently without direct supervision to accomplish goals

    Additional Information

    This position requires a 50/50 split between working in a climate-controlled environment and in the general factory. During work in the factory the temperature varies as the seasons change from hot to cool. Due to the nature of our product, and the testing it requires, some exposure to dust is possible. PPE is required when conducting chemical testing or using plasma torch.

    Note: The employee in this position will train under the current QA Lab coordinator until an effective transition can be made.

Employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
