PRE / POS-OP /PACU CHARGE NURSE JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible and accountable for coordinating and supervising the nursing care provided to patients pre-operatively and post-operatively
- Prepares the next day's staffing schedule
- Use effective conflict resolution techniques
- Independent decision making skills
- Excellent communication skills with staff, physicians, patients, families and vendors
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians and fellow employees (TEAMWORK)
- Demonstrates accountability, creativity, innovation and be receptive to change
- Coordinates and assists in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Projects
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and EXCEL
- Assist Clinical Director in managing labor hours
- Utilizes low census & daily hours spreadsheet in a fair & equitable manner
- Knowledgeable of ASC policies and procedures
- Assistance in maintaining compliance for Joint Commission survey
- Assists with education by coordinating and/or giving in-services.
- Reports to Clinical Director

Required Skills
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE - PRE / POST-OP / PACU CHARGE NURSE
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Illinois Nursing License
- Current BLS, ACLS and PALS
- Minimum of 2 years experience in Pre-Op/PACU
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
- Understand principles of aseptic technique and their implementation
- Ability to care for patients from infancy to geriatrics
- Knowledge base to recognize, evaluate, solve problems and correct errors
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
- Excellent teaching skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Demonstrate strong professional and ethical behavior
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, physicians and fellow employees. (TEAMWORK)
- Strong customer service skills
