American Rent A Car of the Des Moines International Airport is seeking a Branch Manager to join our company. We are looking for someone that can help us grow this location. We are looking for someone who cares about customer service and take our business to the next level.
Our Branch Manager will be assisting other store team members with their task and assuring that they are performing their job well.
BRANCH MANAGER JOB DUTIES:
- Have store opened/closed each day at correct times
- Answer phones and take reservations
- Open/close rental agreements
- Handling ALL paperwork for after-hours rentals
- Delegate tasks to employees (people management skills)
- Assist other store employees with their work, if need
- Assist with training and evaluations of trainees, new employees, and yearly reviews
- Interacting with customers with their needs, suggestions, and complaints
- Marketing your store. This includes calling potential customers, visiting local businesses, faxing and emailing
- Collecting money for damage, extra mileage, smoking, excessively dirty
- Get our claims department all needed paperwork when damage occurs and long term rental information
- Contact HR with any issues, new hires, uniforms, time off request, etc.
- Making calls on customer service.
- Upholding company standards
- If you notice we are way high or low, inform our rates department so they can get it adjusted. This needs to be done on a daily basis as a minimum
- Each morning identify all rental cars that are supposed to be on the lot, make sure no new damage or theft has occurred overnight
- Check the flow of the store from time to time
- Communicate with upper management regarding the sales, employees and other important matters/information
- Wash and maintain vehicles. This includes identifying new damage, smoking, rotating tires, pulling oil change reports, changing light bulbs, changing wiper blades, getting vehicles fixed - body damage or mechanical, getting oil changes done, identifying when vehicles need new tires, etc.
- Maintaining office - cleanliness of inside and outside of the office
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Customer Service experience
- MUST have management experience
- Ability to multitask
- MUST be at least 21
- MUST have a valid driver's license
- As a Branch Manager, you have to know and understand our policies, You also need to think outside the box mentality and not count hours.
- A branch manager always has to be available to answer the call as we are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week, We are also open every holiday and weekends.
- You have to treat the business like it's yours and always have a positive attitude. Ownership type mentality
- We are very involved in the business and have to understand to report to the corporate office daily in a reporting mechanism and a daily phone call to our President.
- You have to be available to travel at a moments notice to our corporate office or other airport locations for training purposes or meetings.
- Have to be open to changing policies and teaching their staff on the spot on new procedures.
- We are looking for someone with an outside the box mentality and a CAN-DO ATTITUDE.

The compensation is very well and it breaks downs as follows:
- Salary $40,000 - $42,000 Depending on previous experience
- The Bonus is set up as a yearly Bonus up to $12,000 that's paid out quarterly and breaks down as follows.
- Overtime reduction
- Hiring employees and training
- Opening local branches and going after insurance replacement business
- Upsells - Upgrades on car classes, GPS sells, Coverage options (CDW), and many other items
- Cost reduction in supplies
- Maintaining the fleet to prevent unnecessary depreciation of the vehicles.
- Customer service matrix is met and reviews 4 stars and above
- Overall growth of the location
