    NUCLEAR PARTS CENTER OVERVIEW

    The Nuclear Parts Center (NPC) serves customers 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year delivering roughly 3,000 shipments from the 30,000 line items of inventoried and non-inventoried products. All NPC products are currently organized into 3 product portfolios made up of 14 product segments with over 200 product hierarchies that are backed by more than 30 supplier partners. The NPC mission is to provide the broadest range of high-quality products, delivered on-time and with world-class customer service.

     

    JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

    The NPC Engineering Supervisor/Manager provides daily front-line supervision and technical support for a team of engineers, technical personnel, and support staff in a specific engineering and/or technical specialty or function. The scope of work typically includes planning and scheduling work, supervising workflow, adhering to budgets, supervising the execution of engineering and/or technical processes, reviewing work progress, providing updates to management and key stakeholders, and providing input to and/or conducting staff performance appraisals. The scope of work may also include providing leadership and direction to subordinate engineering and/or technical staff, defining and executing business plans at the cost center level for their assigned work group(s), and providing advanced technical support while guiding and reviewing the work of engineering and/or technical personnel and support staff. This position is responsible for the following integrated work groups: (1) Engineering, (2) Product Technical Support, (3) Electrical and Mechanical Testing, and (4) Technical Operations.

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Develops and/or administers engineering and/or technical standards and procedures for the assigned work group(s), ensuring adherence to government, organization and customer requirements.
    • Ensures effective performance of engineering and/or technical assignments for simple, moderately complex, and/or complex engineering assignments by planning and directing the timely execution of engineering and/or technical activities within the assigned work group(s).
    • Ensures projects, initiatives, and processes comply with established policies, objectives and customer requirements.
    • Provides technical guidance to others in the identification and resolution of problems.
    • Monitors goals, objectives and standards of performance for assigned team members.
    • Works interactively with suppliers, customers, and peers to develop strong relationships.
    • Researches and assesses best practices, proposing methods and improvements.
    • Works on special projects, as directed.
    • Performs other related duties and tasks, as required.
    • Manages assigned cost center(s), including operating expense budgets, financial performance tracking and accountability, long-term resource planning and development, and annual staffing and operational planning to support the NPC product line.
    • Supports the NPC Product Line Manager with consultation and support with the management of the all strategic, commercial, and operational aspects of the NPC business as a member of the NPC Senior Leadership Team.
    • Supports the NPC Product Line Manager with the management of specific indirect cost control accounts, R&D project planning and implementation, and/or capital project planning and implementation.
    • Supports the NPC Product Line Manager and staff with organizational development activities aimed at the ongoing optimization of the NPC’s organizational effectiveness.

    • SUPERVISOR I, ENGINEERING – BS in Engineering plus 5+ years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MBA/MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.).
    • SUPERVISOR, ENGINEERING – BS in Engineering plus 7+ years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MBA/MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.).
    • MANAGER I, ENGINEERING – BS in Engineering plus 8-10 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MBA/MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.).
    • Advanced knowledge of related engineering and technical standards, techniques, and criteria; demonstrated leadership ability to manage multiple tasks and projects through subordinates, other work groups, and suppliers
    • Interacts effectively with all levels of staff and management
    • Can change priorities quickly, confront issues directly, and work well as part of a team
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to comprehend and convey detailed and often complex technical data clearly and concisely
    • Strong analytical ability and problem identification and problem resolution skills. including the effective use of available OpEx processes, methods, and tools (e.g., 8D, A3, 5S, VSM, FMEA, DtC)
    • Proficiency with MS Office applications and SAP.
    • Experience in performing Commercial Grade Dedication
    • General knowledge of nuclear power plant systems and components for PWR, BWR, and/or CANDU reactor designs

    THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS ARE DESIRED AND WILL BE USED TO DIFFERENTIATE ALL CANDIDATES WHO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION.

    • Leadership experience supervising 8+ direct reports across milti-discipline work groups of engineers, technicians, and assemblers. Disciplines include mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation & control.
    • Experience managing capital assets, including M&TE calibrations, equipment repair and maintenance, and equipment replacements/upgrades.
    • Experience with the ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code
    • Experience in performing Equipment Qualification (EQ) and/or ensuring the maintenance of previous EQ while performing CGD on replacement parts
    • General knowledge of the 10CFR50.69 rule and applicable requirements and industry current events related to the supply of RISC-3 systems, components, and subcomponents
    • Experience with the specification, design, fabrication, assembly, refurbishment, testing, and/or acceptance for products in the following categories: Filtration, Lighting, NSSS Equipment, Proximity Switches, Stearn Rogers Fuel Handling Equipment, Instrumentation & Control, Monitoring & Diagnostics, Motors & Actuators, Tensioning Equipment, Valves, Electrical Distribution Equipment, Motors & Generators, and Variable Frequency Drives
