Business Development Manager and Application Scientist – Food, Feed and Beverages

Position Summary:
They are seeking a Business Development Manager and Application Scientist – Food, Feed, and Beverages with a background in food science, biochemistry, analytical chemistry, or a related field, and hands-on experience in optical spectroscopy. This role reports directly to the Team Leader Business Development (solid line) and indirectly to the Head of Application Scientist (dotted line). The successful candidate will focus on driving business growth, supporting applications in food, feed, and beverage production, and collaborating with customers to integrate spectroscopic solutions into their processes.
Qualifications:
- MSc or PhD in Food Science, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
- 5–10 years of experience in the food, feed, or beverage sectors, particularly with optical and molecular spectroscopy (UV-VIS, NIR, and Raman).
- Proven success in business development, ideally within the process analytical technology (PAT) or related industries.
- Strong network within the food, feed, and beverage industries, especially among processing companies.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including sales professionals, channel partners, and field application scientists.
- Solid project management experience with long-term, complex projects (2–3 years), involving feasibility studies and process instrumentation integration.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
- Ability to work independently, either remotely or from our Plainview office.
- Familiarity with project phases, including feasibility, IQ, OQ, and PQ, is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Lead business development initiatives and support applications in the food, feed, and beverage sectors, working closely with the Team Leader Business Development.
- Collaborate with the Head of Application Scientist on feasibility studies, data analysis, and technical projects tailored to the food and beverage industries.
- Engage with lab scientists, quality assurance teams, and the R&D team to customize spectroscopic solutions for customer-specific needs.
- Develop marketing collateral, including application notes, white papers, and presentations, to highlight solutions for the food, feed, and beverage markets.
- Manage customer projects through all stages, from feasibility to installation and integration of spectrometers in processing environments.
- Participate in webinars, trade shows, and conferences to promote our solutions and build strong customer relationships.
- Maintain relationships with key industry and channel partners to support sustained business growth.
- Travel as required (initially minimal, with potential to increase up to 20–30% annually).
