Aquatics Specialist
-Trains, oversees, coaches, and develops the aquatics department staff to ensure the highest level of swim instruction and swim lesson quality -Directing and controlling the daily operations to ensure the pool deck is running according to GSS standard operating procedures. -Understand and manage the mechanical equipment in our pump room, including the cadence for maintenance plans
-Manages the staff to ensure high productivity, excellent performance and positive employee satisfaction
-Interacts with all aquatic department staff on issues related to class scheduling, student progress, and customer service
-Directs and controls daily operations to ensure the organization is running according to basic standard operating procedures
-Assists the General Manager and department managers fulfill all daily tasks
-Directs, trains, and oversees the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan and all safety procedures pertaining to the facility and EAP
-Maintains a safe and sanitary swim environment through proper mechanical room maintenance
-Troubleshoots the mechanical room as necessary
-Certifies staff to become Shallow Water Lifeguards through Ellis and Associates after obtaining Lifeguard Instructor certification in-house through company
-Lesson plans and facilitates monthly inservice meetings and workshops -Understand and manage the mechanical equipment in our pump room, including the cadence for maintenance plans -Testing pool chemicals and recording information appropriately for audit, monitoring pool chemicals for trends that might be indicative of a mechanical issue in the pump room - this includes recording all chems in Pool Shark -Providing support to the management team to plan team events and in-service material -Communicating with teammates so that everyone on the team feels confident in their understanding of our goals and how those goals will be met. Setting expectations for the team and holding each team member accountable -Providing one-on-one coaching as needed to ensure that our swim instructors are providing exceptional lesson quality to our swimmers and their families -Maintaining the cleanliness of the pool deck and the condition of our teaching tools. -Working with the management team
*This role oversees swim lesson quality and therefore works afternoon to evenings, as well as weekends, when our lessons are scheduled.
Education/Experience: High school diploma/GED required but bachelor’s degree or higher preferred. Minimum one year management experience required. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider is a bonus.
Certificates and Licenses: Certified Pool Operator (CPO), Ellis and Associates Shallow Water Lifeguard required but included through job training
Work Environment: While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity on the pool deck. Noise level is usually moderate.
