The Technical Writer works are part of our state of the art Engineering team and is responsible for creating technical materials such as Installation Guidelines, Service Documents, and Product Specifications designed to assist clients to select and install Waterworks products. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for writing, revising, creating illustrations, and verifying the accuracy of Installation Guidelines. This position also oversees a team of 4 off shore consultants, providing day to day oversight and direction. This role could be a fully remote role.

Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain Installation Guidelines, Service Documents, Product Specifications, internal Training and Reference Materials for new, current, and custom products
- Make high-quality documentation that meets standards and easy to use
- Track the status of all technical documentation creation and updates in Smartsheet
- Coordinate workflow with off shore support team to create and approve final documents
- Coordinate with Product Development team on delivery schedule and hand-off of all documents
- Coordinate scheduling for technical writing needs
- Update, create, and maintain document and software templates in AutoCAD, SolidWorks Composer, InDesign, and MS Word
- Study product assembly drawings and 3D models in SolidWorks
- Create and maintain documents using our CAD library in SolidWorks PDM
- Analyze and manage existing and potential content
- Create and maintain close working relationships with all subject matter experts (including product support and engineering) to insure the quality and accuracy of the documentation
- Send Engineering-approved Instruction Guidelines to Technical Support for review. Discuss Technical Support's concerns with relevant engineers and then incorporate feedback.
- Communicate with product designers and developers to understand product details
- Research and collect usability feedback from customers and Technical Support
- Other projects and duties as assigned
Required Skills
Required Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
- 5 years’ experience in technical writing; plumbing/HVAC a plus
- Proven ownership of writing projects – from research and editing stages through final distribution
- Understanding of engineering drawings, bills of material, and design change notices
- Experience with developing new content from a variety of sources, such as product specifications and interviews with Product Engineers
- Ability to translate highly technical information into easily understandable information for customers
- Creative skills and usage of photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts that increase users’ understanding
- Solid writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Products such as Acrobat, InDesign, and Illustrator
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks and/or SolidWorks Composer a plus
- Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, projects, and timelines
- Ability to work independently without close supervision.
- Critical thinker with problem-solving skills
- Must thrive in a fast paced environment
- Good time-management/organization skills
- Experience managing a team/off shore workforce
- Great interpersonal with strong written and verbal communication skills
- SolidWorks Visualize experience is a plus
- Multi-lingual in French, Italian, or Portugese is a plus
