Reports To: Facility Manager/Director of Operations
Job Summary:
The Custodian/Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment in and around the facility. This includes performing routine cleaning tasks, minor maintenance, and ensuring all areas are kept in orderly condition. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and/or polish floors.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors.
- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
- Dust and clean surfaces, including desks, windowsills, and light fixtures.
- Wash windows, walls, and glass surfaces.
- Replenish restroom supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Minor Repairs:
- Perform minor repairs such as changing light bulbs, unclogging sinks, and fixing door handles.
- Report any major maintenance needs or safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Facility Upkeep:
- Ensure all entrances, exits, and walkways are free of debris and hazards.
- Maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas, including parking lots and walkways.
- Set up and break down furniture and equipment for meetings, events, and other activities as required.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in custodial or janitorial work is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Work may involve exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks.
