    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a Licensed Architect for our growing New York Metro office to work on interesting, challenging projects for a variety of clients.

    This Architect position will be responsible for the following items:

    • Performing basic architectural/engineering calculations
    • Preparing specifications, reports and related data tables
    • Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups
    • Preparing, reviewing, and approving drawings as required
    • Under the direction of the Supervising Architect, may independently perform advanced technical assignments of various complexities within approved schedules and budgets
    • May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project
    • May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel
    • May review and approve conceptual designs
    • May assist in the development of new architectural methods and techniques
    • Provide support coordinating design, technical and administrative activities in the execution of transit, aviation, and other public and private sector projects
    • Work in tight coordination with the Philadelphia architectural design team to schedule, implement, and coordinate all aspects of architectural services from design to construction documents in compliance with office and client standards
    • Lead and coordinate architectural work with engineering disciplines both in-house and with consultants
    • Attend client presentation and progress meetings to communicate design intent and technical details
    • Assist in, prepare and coordinate architectural details with other architectural team members for consistency with project design intent and office/client standards
    • Perform project setup, drawing layout, modifications, and reviews within Revit
    • Assist in the preparation of work effort estimates of architectural services for proposals
    • Provide regular updates with project managers for schedule and budget compliance for architectural services
    • Assist in the coordination of projects with multi­discipline teams of architects, engineers, and consultants for public and private clients
    • Mentor junior architects and designers, and be responsible for determining technical objectives of project assignments in conjunction with project management and design principles
    • Develop solutions to complex technical problems
    • Review construction documents for compliance with client/project requirements
    • Prepare program analysis, life safety code analysis, concept designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic design, design development, construction drawings, and project specifications

    Minimum Requirements

    • BA/BS in Architecture plus six (6) years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
    • Registered Architecture License is required

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Eight (8) years of strong technical skills and demonstrated experience in all phases of architecture project delivery
    • Professional experience in a wide variety of production and visualization software including but not limited to: AutoCAD, Revit, Rhinoceros, Bently Microstation, Open Building, Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, and PowerPoint
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate a collaborative environment
    • Diverse knowledge of architectural principles and practices
    • Strong client-facing skills and exemplary communication and collaboration skills
    • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Be able to work independently, in a team environment, and as a project team leader
    • Be able to carry assignments to completion in accordance with project objectives, codes/criteria/standards, policies, and procedures
    • May oversee the work of junior architects and designers
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
    • Coordinating design activities with other disciplines
    • Provide technical leadership to assigned projects to assure that all technical work produced is of high quality and within the context of schedule and budget
