    The Student Engagement division at Warren Wilson College invites applications for an Area Coordinator - Housing & Residence Life position, a full-time, 12 month, live-in professional staff role in the Residence Life Department.

    Reporting to the Director of Residence Life, the individual in this role is responsible for building community by developing and implementing engaging initiatives and programs that enhance the residential experience and that promote student growth and development. We are looking for an educator at heart who embraces a growth-mindset and is eager to provide thoughtful leadership, supervision, support and mentorship to a team of vibrant Resident Assistants (RAs) so that they are equipped to meet the needs of residents and contribute to a positive living-learning environment.

    We are looking for a level-headed professional who can aptly respond and manage crisis situations with a strong collaborative approach with campus partners. We seek someone who values continual improvement through collecting and analyzing data to inform practices and contribute to the ongoing improvement of the residential experience. We seek someone to collaborate effectively with campus partners across the full WWC spectrum, including Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, Athletics, Campus Safety in order to create a cohesive and supportive campus environment.     Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
    • One to two years of Residence Life experience as paraprofessional staff (undergraduate or graduate).
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently with excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and student database systems.
    • Demonstrated ability to work with people from a diverse range of identities and experiences.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling, or another related field.
    • Three to five years of Residence Life experience as a full-time professional staff member.

    Key Responsibilities

    Housing Assignments and Operations

    • Facilitate the assignment process including mid-year room changes and break housing assignments for residents of your assigned residence halls (5-9 buildings).
    • Maintain accurate occupancy records of your assigned residence halls (5-9 buildings).
    • Submit housing charges to the office of Student Accounts when appropriate.
    • Communicate housing deadlines to students.
    • Act as a liaison between residents and facilities operations and other campus partners when issues arise within the residential area.
    • Serve on campus committees as needed.

    Administrative Oversight

    • Managing the day-to-day administrative and facility operations of a residential area.
    • Mediating conflict and roommate/suitemate issues.
    • Crisis management and participation in an emergency on-duty rotation.
    • Participation in office processes including RA section and training, break housing process, and Housing Lottery.

    Educational Programs

    • Provide training for RA staff on program processes for campus, working in conjunction with the Student Activities crew for campus promotions.
    • Coordinating programming model which includes educational, recreational, wellness, and social programs. Provide any evaluation and follow up with RAs on their programming.

    Conduct

    • Coordinate the Student Conduct process for students, helping to manage students complaints and violations of campus policies.
    • Serve as the primary conduct administrative officer.
    • Record all conduct matters in the Symplicity Advocate software system.

    Supervision

    • Supervision of a residential area (5-9 buildings) and undergraduate students (approx. 340).
    • Direct supervision of the RA staff for the residential area (approx 8-12 students).
    • Facilitate RA staff meetings weekly to update student staff on issues and timely processes.
