    Job Summary:

    This is a leadership position responsible for providing oversight for an Area within a defined Region. The position is responsible for leading, managing, planning, and operationally executing against defined goals for the Area under the direction of the Vice President of Regional Operations. The Area Manager is also responsible for meeting company KPI’s that include safety, profitability, and other performance related goals.

    Education:

    · Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or equivalent experience.

    Experience:

    · Minimum of five years of experience in the civil marine construction market.

    · Minimum of ten years of management experience managing a business unit with P&L responsibility.

    Responsibilities:

    · Provide leadership and vision to the area by developing annual and long-range strategic plans. This includes the monthly evaluation and reporting of the progress/status of plans. Strategic plan development will be a collaboration between Area Manager &, VP of Eastern Region.

    · Participate and/or delegate in estimating/proposal process for projects which are assigned and pursued. Serves as a lead in the pursuit of entrance into niche markets.

    · Ensure effective financial management and P&L accountability. Participate in Area and Regional strategic planning and budgeting process. Manage positive division cash flow by ensuring the timely collection of revenue from clients.

    · Manage project operations within the Area to ensure project execution for sponsored or sole venture work (Where Ballard is lead JV partner or the Sole Operator).

    · Negotiate and/or approve contracts and agreements with subcontractors, vendors, federal and state agencies, and other organizational entities within its approval authorities.

    · Manage the procurement of business development opportunities and participate in pursuit efforts for prospective projects. Seek out and identify niche market opportunities for the company.

    · In partnership with Human Resources, grow and lead a team of capable and engaged employees. Promote, support and drive Ballard’s Culture. Ensure capable talent by taking ownership of employee development (PGP), assessment and performance management. Fully support HR policies and processes to ensure effective management of personnel.

    · Drive Ballard’s safety culture across the area of accountability. Ensure Area operations follows Project Specific Safety Procedures. Promote safety initiatives such as incident reporting, compass card program, near miss reporting, development of Red, Yellow, Green notices and managing third party safety programs (ISN, etc.).

    · Establish and maintain key relationships with contractors, owners, engineers, and industry stakeholders.

    · Other duties as assigned

    Physical Demands Working Environment:


    · Travel will be required to attend training, projects, and meetings.

    · Ability to sit or stand for entire shift.

    · Occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.

    · Ability to lift, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds.

    · Work outdoors in all weather conditions.

    · Ability to speak, write, and understand English clearly.

    Salary Range:


    · $150K-$200K

    · Pay is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

    Qualifications:
    High school diploma, GED, or an equivalent certificate of competency; supplemented by one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must possess a “Class D” security license with the State of Florida, or be willing to pursue and secure such certification (State of Florida Chapter 493); have
    the ability to effectively meet and deal with the public; within 90 days of employment, possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and acceptable driving record; ability to pass standard law enforcement background/security check; must be in good physical condition. As this position requires the operation of
    University vehicles, the possession and maintenance of a valid Florida driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required.
    Good judgment, tact, diplomacy, honesty, and interpersonal skills required. Ability to remain alert over long periods and engage in active patrol throughout shift. Ability to observe situations objectively, recall and report information accurately, both verbally and in writing. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations, exercising good restraint even in difficult interactions with others. Ability to work as a positive team player, and to express one’s self clearly and concisely. Must be flexible to work any shift and have regular and reliable attendance.
    Physical ability to immediately respond in crisis or emergency anywhere on campus or in surrounding areas of College-owned property. Serves on College of Law emergency ride out team and/or may be required to maintain on call emergency response status in the event of emergency activities affecting College of Law.     Computer Skills: Familiarity in MS Office (Word, Outlook) and the ability to learn security-based technology.
