THE MORTGAGE RISK MANAGER SUPPORTS THE VICE PRESIDENT OF MORTGAGE RISK MANAGEMENT IN THE DEVELOPMENT, IMPLEMENTATION, AND OVERSIGHT OF THE CUSO’S ENTERPRISE RISK MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK. THE MORTGAGE RISK MANAGER WILL BE HEAVILY INVOLVED IN DEVELOPING MANAGEMENT PRACTICES, PROCEDURES AND PROCESSES THAT WILL SUPPORT MYCUMORTGAGE’S RISK MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES. THIS INDIVIDUAL WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CONDUCTING REGULAR RISK ASSESSMENTS COVERING ALL FUNCTIONAL AREAS OF THE ORGANIZATION AND REPORTING RESULTS TO THE ENTERPRISE RISK COMMITTEE AND THE SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM. FURTHERMORE, THE MORTGAGE RISK MANAGER WILL MAINTAIN THE CUSO’S BUSINESS CONTINUITY (BCP) PROGRAM.
- Manages the CUSO’s enterprise risk management framework. This includes regularly reviewing the risk appetite statement to ensure it remains relevant based on the size, complexity, and risk profile of myCUmortgage. Ensure assigned business units are operating efficiently and reliably, are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and rules, have appropriate operating controls to mitigate risk, and are performing at a high level. (20%)
- Conducts regular risk assessments across all functional areas of the organization to determine the effectiveness of and level of compliance with the CUSO’s enterprise risk management framework. Reports the results of these assessments to the Enterprise Risk Committee and Senior Leadership on a regular basis. (20%)
- Provides support to all lines of business in developing effective solutions to their risk management concerns. This can be achieved by developing new (or editing existing) management practices or identifying additional internal controls that may help to mitigate risk. (20%)
- Coordinates the maintenance, testing and implementation of the CUSO’s business continuity (BCP) program. (20%)
- Works closely with the Vice President of Mortgage Risk Management to identify and inventory compliance, credit, financial, information security, market, operational, reputational, and strategic risks present in the day-to-day operations of the CUSO. (15%)
- Maintains the CUSO’s insurance portfolio which includes policy renewal and processing claims. (5%)
Required Skills
The Mortgage Risk Manager must possess the following knowledge and skills:
- A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or other business discipline is preferred.
- Prefer at least 5 years of work-related experience in financial institution risk management.
- Demonstrated ability to establish internal controls that appropriately mitigate risk without imposing unnecessary operational burden or inefficiencies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to work under time constraints, within deadlines and be able to prioritize work effectively.
- The ability to make decisions when necessary to ensure that time-sensitive tasks and projects are kept on track and completed in advance of any applicable deadline.
