Asbestos and Lead Water Restoration Specialist
Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Asbestos and Lead Water Restoration Specialist to join our team. This role involves managing and performing the safe removal, remediation, and restoration of areas affected by water damage containing asbestos and lead. The specialist will work with clients to ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards, while efficiently restoring damaged properties to a safe, habitable condition.
Key Responsibilities:
Asbestos and Lead Hazard Assessment:
Conduct thorough inspections and assessments of properties for asbestos and lead-based paint hazards.
Collect samples for laboratory analysis to confirm the presence of asbestos and lead.
Provide clients with detailed reports on the findings, including recommendations for mitigation.
Water Damage Restoration:
Assess the scope of water damage in properties, identifying areas where asbestos or lead hazards may be present.
Safely remove and remediate asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) and lead-based paint (LBP) in areas affected by water damage.
Perform water extraction, drying, and dehumidification of affected areas, ensuring the property is restored to safe living conditions.
Remediation and Abatement:
Implement proper asbestos and lead abatement techniques, adhering to local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, and NIOSH standards).
Set up containment and air filtration systems to minimize the spread of asbestos and lead dust during the removal process.
Safely dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with regulations.
Compliance and Documentation:
Ensure that all work complies with relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards related to asbestos, lead, and water damage restoration.
Maintain accurate records of the work performed, including inspection reports, safety data sheets (SDS), abatement logs, and waste disposal documentation.
Ensure clients are informed of the process, and provide updates as work progresses.
Safety Protocols:
Follow strict safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while conducting inspections, removals, and restorations.
Keep up to date with safety training and certifications related to asbestos, lead, and water damage restoration.
Maintain a safe and organized work environment for both the team and the property’s occupants.
Customer Service:
Interact professionally with property owners, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
Provide customers with clear and thorough explanations of the restoration and remediation process, expected timelines, and safety procedures.
Address customer concerns promptly and effectively, ensuring complete satisfaction with the restoration work.
Qualifications:
Certification and Training:
Asbestos Abatement Certification (e.g., EPA, state, or local certification).
Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Certification.
Water damage restoration certification (e.g., IICRC, or equivalent).
OSHA 10/30 or other relevant safety training is a plus.
Experience:
Proven experience in asbestos and lead abatement, water damage restoration, and hazardous material remediation.
Familiarity with environmental hazards and regulations regarding asbestos, lead, and water damage restoration.
Experience working with containment, decontamination, and air filtration systems.
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety and regulatory procedures.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to operate restoration and abatement equipment safely and effectively.
Good communication skills to interact with clients, coworkers, and regulatory agencies.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights, as necessary.
Ability to perform physical labor, including bending, lifting, and walking for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
This role involves working in residential, commercial, and industrial properties, which may require exposure to hazardous materials.
The position requires occasional travel to job sites and may involve irregular hours, including weekends and evenings, based on project deadlines and customer needs.
