About the job
Looking for a Controller to join our team growing team. This role will operate with a high level of autonomy to conduct a full range of accounting and finance functions. The Controller is comfortable balancing hands-on financial management with making senior-level decisions. Your expertise will be important in bringing operational discipline as we prepare for a year of rapid growth. We’re looking for a candidate with creative problem-solving skills who can seamlessly pivot from detailed accounting work to high-level strategy. We’re a scrappy team, and no task is beneath anyone.
Responsibilities
- Manage all accounting operations (Billing, A/R, A/P, GL and Counsel, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting and Revenue Recognition
- Coordinate the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts based on company performance
- Source and manage vendors and technology to efficient and accurate accounting processes
- Complete the full cycle of accounting activities, month-end accruals, and GL reconciliation, journal entries, invoicing, and reconcile accounts for monthly and annual closing
- Conduct 1099 processing, year-end procedures, travel and expense reimbursement, implement and enforce internal controls, appropriate tax regulations, general ledger interface, and related processes.
- Review company's accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances, utilizing accounting system to facilitate processes and maintain records
- Prepare financial statements and oversee budgeting and forecasting to support the company's decision-making
- Prepare/publish timely monthly financial statements, coordinating the preparation of regulatory reporting
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance, ensuring quality control over financial transactions/financial reporting.
- Manage and comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance.
- CPA designation strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and US GAAP.
- Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel.
- Technology savvy with experience overseeing the overall management of an accounting software system
- Experience in developing and implementing processes, policies, and standards.
- Experience in sourcing and managing technology vendors
- Strong at analyzing information and problem solving.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
