PURPOSE:
Provides technical services in the radiology department
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs and maintains quality assurance of radiographic examinations;
- Cares for as well as operates necessary equipment;
- Maintains cleanliness of x-ray processor;
- Demonstrates proper usage of radiographic equipment within state and federal guidelines;
- Performs necessary maintenance with usage of other Special Testing equipment;
- Replenishes necessary chemicals in radiographic processors as needed.
- Performs and assists with Special Testing procedures, i.e., EKG's, PFT's, audiometry, vision tests, Holter monitor application and removal, 30-day event monitor hookup;
- Assists with TST's, echocardiograms, pacemaker interrogations and reprogramming, and other diagnostic tests as needed;
- Administers prescribed oral medications in accordance with physician orders;
- Properly handles and maintains radiographic film: consistently utilizes proper darkroom techniques and procedures, ensures protection of all films with adequate jackets, which must include accurate information, maintains film files, maintains accurate records of film locations, assures return of films to appropriate destinations;
- Maintains cleanliness of all work areas;
- Maintains a supply of clean laundry: sends out all soiled laundry twice weekly, and assumes responsibility for receiving clean laundry; distributes clean laundry to appropriate areas;
- Maintains an organized file of all radiographic and Special Testing materials;
- Places orders for all supplies and equipment as needed to maintain adequate stock, utilizing principles of cost effectiveness;
- Pursues ongoing continuing education: maintains a current standard of knowledge and ability consistent with radiographic examinations; maintains current CPR certification; assists in the updating of Special Testing procedure and to provide department inservice whenever appropriate;
- Assumes assigned responsibilities in a cooperative effort to maintain departmental quality assurance;
- Reviews radiographic films for diagnostic quality;
- Maintains a professional demeanor in stressful situations, prioritizing and performing all tasks necessary to schedule appointments and maintain records as is required by departmental procedure;
- Provides assistance to co-workers as is necessary and appropriate, demonstrating a consistent effort to increase the speed and efficiency of all departmental functions;
- Responds to code blues as an alternate EKG technician;
- Demonstrates awareness of patient needs and education, striving to provide excellence in quality patient care;
- Assists all patients as needed;
- Provides clear, complete instructions to all patients, answering questions as accurately as is possible.

SCHEDULE:
SATURDAYS FROM 8AM-8PM, POSSIBLE ADDITIONAL SHIFTS TO PICK UP AS WELL

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technicians or equivalent state certification
