    Job Description

    ** Job Description:**

    The Assignment Desk Editor – Producer is responsible for planning, preparing, and executing the news gathering functions by working closely with producers, reporters and photographers.

    • Suggest stories for daily coverage as well as plans for future content with news team.
    • Researches and organizes details and facts on story ideas.
    • Arranges and coordinates news content and interviews for daily and future stories.
    • Collaborates with reporters and producers on editorial content of stories.
    • Reviews stories for elements, balance, storytelling, and script.
    • Collaborates with staff on story/sweeps planning and coordination.
    • Monitors all sources for news and establishes/maintains contacts and sources
    • Works under the direct supervision of the Executive Producer and is responsible for completing any other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

    ** Responsibilities:**

    • Responsible for planning, preparing, and executing the news gathering functions, including newsroom assignment, coordination of logistics, and monitors news wires.
    • Plans and prepares content using the resources available and coordinating with managing editor, executive producer and show producers.
    • Assist in scripts (including writing) and the editing of a story.
    • Coordinates breaking news coverage and establishes live shots and remotes.
    • Contribute story ideas and take charge of daily coverage decisions for newscast and platforms.
    • Quickly adjust to late changes and be aggressive in breaking news coverage.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.
    • Backup producer as needed.

    ** Eligibility Requirements:**

    • Fluency in Spanish and English, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both languages.

    • This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal designated worksite (Centennial, Colorado).
    • Willingness to travel and work outside standard hours, and on weekends with short notice.
    • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
    • Must be 18 years or older.
    • Must accept Solutions as NBCUniversal's Dispute Resolution Program.

    ** Desired Qualifications:**

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
    • General computer skills: iNews.
    • Solid editing, writing and production principals.
    • Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced, dead-line driven environment.
    • Accustomed to working in a team and collaborating with all levels within the organization.
    • Demonstrated strong attention to detail.
    • Proven excellent interpersonal skills combined with a strong sense of how to visually tell a compelling story desired.
    • Ability to create urgent, engaging, and conversational news copy and visuals under tight deadlines.
    • Team player who is flexible and works well under pressure.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.

    Required On-Site : This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

    Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 (based on experience)
