Assistant Athletic Director/Sports Information Director
Job Description Colby Community College is accepting applications for a full-time Assistant Athletic Director/Sports Information Director. The Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Media and Communications will perform all assigned responsibilities under the direction and supervision of the Director of Athletics. This individual is responsible for developing, implementing, and organizing all sports information related to all athletic programs at Colby. The position will support the Department of Athletics' day-to-day business operations, gameday administration, and other administrative functions.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Understand and commit to the Mission of the College and the Colby Community College Athletic Department.
Maintain effective communication within the college.
Represent the College professionally and ethically.
Adhere to the NJCAA, Region VI, and KJCCC policies and procedures that pertain to all athletic programs.
Assist with administrative clerical work regarding department budgets, scholarship database, record keeping, and other office duties.
Assist with supervising work-study students in the office and at home events.
Assist with the administration and operations of the Trojans Booster Club.
Attend and operate all home events that include nights and weekends.
Promote all athletic programs to local/area media using guidelines established by the Athletic Department.
Serve as the public relations agent for the Athletics Department in developing positive relations with media representatives from the electronic and print media.
Present reports at staff meetings regarding the Assistant AD office.
Responsible for the technical functions of the Website, including design, graphics, and updated information.
Continuously update and post on all Athletic Department social media accounts.
Update the athletics page on the Colby Trojans website with team schedules, news releases, rosters, coaches bios, and other information.
Collect information and coordinate team photos from each player.
Coordinate media days for each sports team for social media graphics, hype videos, posters, and other sports-related projects.
Gather, compile, and maintain statistical information, i.e., weekly and year-end statistics, individual/team records, and awards.
Design and produce game day athletics programs as requested by the Athletic Director.
Serve on the Kansas Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week voting committees.
Assist with the organization of the Colby Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Travel locally, regionally, and nationally for various meetings and championships, fundraising, and community events.
Oversee practice schedules and athletic facilities schedules.
Manage facility managers and work-study students to approve hours worked.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
Previous experience in sports media.
One to three years of athletic marketing knowledge, preferably in a higher education setting.
One to three years of proven understanding of higher education athletic operations.
Strong communication skills, including both written and verbal.
Attention to detail, high standards for quality, and ability to respect confidentiality.
Ability to work under pressure with a high tolerance for interruptions.
Ability to work with diverse groups of people.
Must exercise time management flexibility and sustain long work hours, including evenings, early mornings, and weekends.
Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for extended periods; ability to move freely around the campus and outreach centers; ability to lift up to 20 pounds; ability to bend, stoop, reach, and grasp as required to perform responsibilities; ability to drive a motor vehicle; and ability to work on the computer for long periods.
Salary $41,500 - $48,500, depending on experience and qualifications.
