  • Responsibilities

    The Hilton Charlotte University Place is hiring an Assistant Chief Engineer. Responsibilities: • Uses and teaches the methods, practices, tools, equipment, and materials used in a variety of building and mechanical trades. • Should also know the occupational hazards present in the use of power tools and equipment and be able to follow the necessary safety precautions to operate safely and effectively with these potential hazards. • Completes repairs and maintenance of furniture and fixtures within the hotel. Follows all safety and security measures. Reports or corrects any hazardous conditions observed immediately. Maintains guidelines for training checklists in the department. • Observe and follow procedures and protocols for emergencies. Diagnoses malfunctions and defects in mechanical and similar equipment and determines adequate corrective measures. • Assigns and supervises the work of Engineering team. • Communicates effectively with staff and leadership. Communicates professionally with guests and coworkers. • Assists with interviewing and selecting new maintenance staff. • Oversees the maintenance staff, including discipline and retraining when necessary, in conjunction with handbook policies and procedures. • Conducts quality inspections of the property and makes recommendations regarding safety, security and facility improvements. • Responds to work orders in a timely manner. • Trains all maintenance staff Qualifications: • Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Assistant Chief Engineer will perform the following essential functions and must meet the noted skills/qualifications. • Possesses a working knowledge of: preventative maintenance, electricity, HVAC carpentry, painting, and plumbing • Maintains 5+ years experience as a maintenance engineer or technician or similar position, preferably in a hotel/lodging environment. Possession of HVAC and pool care certifications preferred. • Pushes or pulls 100 pounds and lifts and/or carry 60 pounds. • Possesses the ability to stand, bend, stretch, reach, climb ladders, crawl, kneel, and be low to the ground when necessary, sometimes for extended periods of time. • Understands and follows oral and written instructions. • Exhibits professionalism, honesty, teamwork, and trustworthiness at all times. Compensation: $50,000 yearly
