    Job Description

    Salary: $115,000 - $130,000 annual

    The Assistant Controller, Corporate Accounting position reports to the Controller. The position oversees the Corporate Accounting functions for Spectrum Retirement Communities and its affiliated entities.

    In this position, your main responsibilities include:

    • Oversee all Corporate Accounting function to ensure accuracy and consistency in month end close and reporting to executive teams
    • Solid financial acumen including the ability to prepare, understand and take action from financial reports and the ability to clearly understand and articulate the financial impact of business decisions
    • Oversees preparation and review of monthly corporate level financial statements, monthly variance analysis, and budget data
    • Oversee consolidation and balance sheet reconciliations, as well as the development and preparation of ad hoc reports
    • Continual improvement, communication and collaboration of the month end close process through education of department leaders on financial issues impacting budgets
    • Responsible for all ownership entity P&L’s and Balance Sheets including all relevant underlying support documents and/or reconciliations
    • Create, develop and enforce accounting policies, procedures and business rules relevant to accounting, budgeting, and project tracking
    • Monitor regulations, policies, and procedures applicable to financial reporting and operations
    • Work with the property accounting team on special projects as needed
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    To be successful in this position, we believe that you need the following experiences, strengths, and skills:

    • Bachelor’s in Accounting and 4-6 years of combined public accounting and industry experience preferred
    • Financial/Accounting experience in Multi-Family Property or Real Estate environment preferred
    • CPA preferred
    • Strong management experience required
    • Yardi experience is required
    • Strong computer skills, including spreadsheets, presentations, databases and other document creation software
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Self-motivated, organized and professional
    • Have a neat, professional, courteous manner
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities, have excellent time management/meet deadlines and attention to detail
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work effectively with different levels of personnel
