Job Summary

The Assistant Delivery Driver is responsible for assisting the delivery driver in safely delivering and installing furniture to customer's homes or businesses. This role will assist in the loading and unloading furniture from the delivery truck, assembling furniture as needed, all while providing excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

Pick up materials and goods in one location and transport to another location.

Perform routine safety inspections and preventative maintenance

Plan the safest and most efficient routes of travel

Adhere to delivery schedules

Maintain detailed driving log, including work periods, rest periods, and fuel expenses

Assist the delivery driver by providing support and communicate accurate time frames and directions to customers

Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times

Load and unload furniture from the truck, ensuring that all items are properly secured for transport

Assemble furniture as needed and ensure that it is installed properly in the customer's home or business

Provide excellent customer service throughout the delivery process, including answering any questions and addressing any concerns the customer may have

Maintain accurate delivery records and obtain customer signatures for proof of delivery

Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of the delivery truck and equipment as needed

Report any equipment issues or maintenance needs to management in a timely manner

Perform other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL)

Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers

Familiarity with GPS systems, CB radios, and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) technology

Understanding of all relevant truck driving laws and regulations

Clean driving record

Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

Willingness to travel regularly and drive long distances

Basic knowledge of furniture assembly and installation preferred

Flexible schedule and the ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed

Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently

Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately

Ability to lift and carry heavy furniture items up to 100 pounds
