    Position Summary:

    We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Director-Research Administration.

    NYU Langone Health is conducting a multi-center multi-component project, EDs LEading the Transformation of Alzheimers and Dementia Care (ED-LEAD). The goal of the project is to turn an ED visit from a crisis point into an opportunity to improve the well-being of persons living with dementia (PLWD) and their care partners. ED-LEAD will be embedded in a diverse group of 14 health systems, including 82 EDs with substantial racial and ethnic diversity. An Administrative Core will oversee completion of all administrative milestones including integrating expertise and guidance from two NIA-funded networks and an External Advisory Board. The Administrative Core will also oversee the integration of all projects and cores and report to the multi-PI team and federal sponsors on progress.

    The Assistant Director for the Administrative Core is a core leader responsible for overseeing the conduct of three quality improvement projects and integration of the Implementation Core and Statistical Analysis Core.

    The incumbent will develop processes for ED-LEAD that support site activation for all projects and integration between project teams, the Implementation Core, the Statistical Analysis Core, organizational stakeholders at all 18 participating institutions, the Steering Committee, and NIH Sponsor. Additional stakeholder engagement will include scientists, clinicians, patient and caregiver representatives, study participants, and the general public. Additionally, the Program Director will identify challenges and barriers faced by the ED-LEAD network and staff and work closely with the Principal Investigators, Project Lead Investigators, and staff to develop solutions and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • * The Assistant Director will report to the Program Director, working closely with program leadership to execute the conduct of 3 quality improvement in accordance with established timelines and milestones.
      
      • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and quality.

      • Oversee operations at the Administrative Core, with oversight and engagement with the Implementation and Statistical Analysis Cores with the goal of successful implementation of three (3) high-profile quality improvement studies investigating emergency department-initiated care which will impact over 19,200 patients receiving care at 2 optimization sites and 80 randomized sites. The projects incorporate care redesign through informatics and education, nurse-led telephonic care management, and community paramedicine interventions.

      • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure all study tasks are completed on time to meet established study start-up goals, milestone targets, and ongoing conduct for all cohorts in close collaboration with faculty leadership and faculty leads.

      • Direct staff management within the Administrative Core by overseeing all staff hiring, training, and management activities.

      • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountability, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals.

      • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis.

      • Oversee conduct of ED-LEAD quality improvement studies and provide guidance in the management of their operations to leadership team.

      • Supervise all Research Project Managers (3), and indirect staff reports, including staff conducting activities in site management, site monitoring, and data safety and monitoring activities.

      • Prioritize resources across teams to ensure operational strategic goals and milestones are achieved and advise the Program Director and PIs in allocating resources.

      • Develop and implement metrics to monitor operational issues, and develop sound strategic solutions to enhance performance and quality including developing project management and risk management plans.

      • Responsible for closely collaborating with MCIT and NYU Rory Meyers College of Nursing IT on implementing program wide usage of project related applications, to support site management, and oversee per case payments to implementation sites.

      • Develop in close collaboration with other affiliated health systems to effectively integrate engagement, communications, governance, and project management to support performance goals.

      • Assist Principal Investigators and Lead Investigators with preparation of regular status reports for the ED-LEAD network, other stakeholders.

      • Develop and implement communication plan to provide routine updates regarding the status of the program through written reports, scheduled meetings, and/or teleconferences, etc.

      • Collaborate on establishing standards and appropriate quality control procedures for the and oversee compliance with these standards and procedures

      • Ensure key trial materials (e.g. Protocol, Data Management Plans, SOPs, Guidelines, Working Practices, and Training Materials etc.) are updated when necessary through team contributors providing input directly when needed.

      • Coordinate and participate in the implementation of data-driven risk-based monitoring activities to ensure overall data quality, integrity, rigor, and reproducibility standards.

      • All other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree required, in Nursing, Public Health, Healthcare or science related discipline.
    • 10+ years of experience working in a Clinical Research Organization (CRO), hospital, medical center or academic medical setting, including 6+ years of experience leading clinical trials and/or large observational human clinical research studies across multiple institutions. Implementing clinical research protocols across multisite/multicenter experience a must, including developing and implementing research plans, training plans, SOPs, Manual of Operations (MOPs), monitoring and data safety plans, and site payments.
    • Must have progressive leadership experience. In-depth knowledge and understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and human subject research with ability to align strategies with programmatic objectives.
    • Proven success in developing and training clinical research staff in areas of project planning across lifespan or a clinical research study in a multisite setting (i.e., site identification, onboarding, training, management, and close-out). Strong knowledge and proven success executing complex clinical research protocols.
    • Supervisory and management experience, including management of indirect reports in a matrixed environment.
    • Ability to simultaneously conceive, manage, execute, and coordinate multiple projects within tight timelines and budget parameters.
    • Demonstrated success in building reporting systems to track site activation and participant recruitment.
    • Experience (10+ years) leading large complex programs in a matrixed organization with demonstrated director-level experience leading these programs with clear markers of success that lead the program to grow and meet strategic goals.

    NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $117,107.95 - $135,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
