Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Director to join our team! As the Assistant Director, you will be responsible for supporting the Director with selecting age-appropriate programs, activities, and curricula for the children in our care. You will also support the Director in managing our current staff, managing break scheduling and ordering snack and office supplies, bringing positive communication to the team, and implementing new strategies to grow and expand our program. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a deep understanding of child development and education, and experience managing staff.
We will consider strong lead teachers who want to take the next step in their early childhood education career and who have the right mentality to begin their administrative journey. Those with their 90 hours in infant toddler and prek are favorable and those with their Director 45 hours are preferred.
Responsibilities
Support teachers in implementing our accredited curriculum
Ensure that we are always in compliance with county and state regulations, as well as with the Maryland Department of Education
Manage staff and parent expectations and handle any issues, including scheduling and interpersonal conflicts that may arise
Create emails, bulletin announcements, and newsletters via Brightwheel and traditional email
Schedule our Summer Program
Manage the ordering of center supplies
Track staff leave requests
Qualifications
The required licensing/certification to perform this role
Past experience working with children
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education is preferred
Demonstrated experience managing a team is preferred
Deep understanding of childcare, child development, and education; and the ability to communicate that understanding to others
