Independence Community College is seeking an Assistant Director of Maintenance & Facilities to assist the Sr. Director of Maintenance & Facilities in a wide variety of buildings, grounds, custodian, maintenance, transportation, and security activities for the college physical plant. The position will include providing specific building maintenance as assigned, assisting with basic building interior and exterior improvement activities, assisting with building/campus activity set up, identifying specific building custodial/maintenance needs, processing work orders, establishing usage schedule, completing work list priorities, and initiating preventive maintenance.
The Assistant Director of Maintenance & Facilities is a full-time, 12-month classified salaried position with a salary range of $50,000 - $60,000. Final salary is commensurate with job knowledge and work experience.
Primary Duties
· Ensures that the Maintenance Department responds to the daily needs of the College.
· Anticipates future needs of the physical plan and develops appropriate plans to address issues.
· Supervises and leads construction projects as needed
· Understands ADA compliance for new and existing facilities.
· Coordinates the use of college facilities.
· Assists the Sr. Director of Maintenance & Facilities by supervising the maintenance and custodial staff.
· Provide specific building maintenance as assigned.
· Provide services for the campus buildings assigned.
· Identify specific building maintenance needs, process work orders, and establish usage schedule, complete work list priorities, and initiate preventive maintenance
· Represents the College in interactions involving external customers, vendors, and suppliers while maintaining positive relationships.
· Work collaboratively with all faculty, staff, and external agencies such as contractors and repair services.
· Develop internal reports when requested, including the Clery, Campus Fire and Safety, Fire Marshall
· Serves as chair of the College Safety Committee, stays alert and corrects all campus safety hazards
· Prepares and monitors departmental budget, including obtaining bids and inventory.
Participate and represent the Office of Financial and Scholarships in various committees, professional training, industry conferences and conventions.
· Timely completion of reports and communications.
· Collaborative, professional and responsible work behavior with a high degree of ethical and standards
· Consistently strive to maintain a safe and operational facility.
· Adherence to institutional policies and procedures.
· All other duties as assigned by the Sr. Director of Maintenance & Facilities.
Qualifications & Skills
· Two or more years of maintenance experience, required.
· Strong knowledge of electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical is preferred.
· Strong knowledge of ADA regulations, Fire & Life Safety Codes, Electrical Codes.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and interpersonal relationships throughout the college and the community.
· Time management, ability to cope with multiple interruptions and work under pressure of deadlines.
· Must be able to handle confidential information with tact and discretion.
· Excellent office skills, including computer experience, are necessary to complete job requirements.
· Ability to work well with others and accept supervision.
· Demonstrated hands-on familiarity with maintenance functions and equipment.
· Ability to work with a diverse student population.
· Must have a positive, collaborative work philosophy that is compatible with the mission of ICC.
