Job Summary Provides a stimulating, safe, and developmentally appropriate educational environment where children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills. Responsible for the daily planning, management and supervision of the classroom and children. Generally, assists Lead Teacher with supervision, classroom management, and implementation of the curriculum. Responsible for ensuring that all parents, children, and classroom staff concerns are appropriately addressed.
Responsibilities
Assists to ensures that the physical, social and emotional needs of the children are met daily.
Ensures all policies and procedures to keep the children healthy and safe are being implemented.
Assists with creation of activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, exploration and problem solving appropriate to the developmental levels and learning styles of the children through well defined interest areas.
Assist and supervise children during all activities.
Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of the classroom are appropriately maintained in accordance with the NAEYC cleaning and sanitation guidelines.
Attends and participates in staff meetings, Academy events, and parent meetings, as requested.
Assists with the preparation and implementation of classroom lesson plans, programs, and schedules.
Assists with the development of plans and instructional aids and/or material for classroom activities.
Assists children with meal times and cleanup.
Ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment are in good working condition and are used and maintained properly.
Assists in ensuring that the classroom functions in an orderly manner.
Interacts with parents and maintains open communication to encourage family engagement.
Performs other similar or related duties as necessary.
Accepts temporary work assignments in the event regularly scheduled personnel are not available.
Assists with planning and implementing Academy-wide events.
Qualifications
Certification in Early Childcare Education or otherwise achieves GaPDS Career Level IV
Strong understanding of child development principles and best practices in education and classroom management
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of classroom health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and ability to closely adhere to the guidelines
Problem-solving and mediation skills
