    Job Description:

    St. Matthew Catholic School is a vibrant Catholic elementary schoo community located in Northeast Philadelphia. We are dedicated to providing a nuturing and Christ-centered environment where students can grow academically, spiritually, and socially. Our experienced and caring faculty is committed to helping each child reach their full potential.

    We are seeking a qualified and passionate Assistant Principal to join our administrative team. The Assistant Principal will work collaboratively with the Principal to provide leadership and support for all aspects of the school operation. this includes curriculum development, instruction, assessment, student discipline, and professional development.

    The Assistant Principal of St. Matthew School is a key member of the school leadership team, responsible for supporting the Principal in all aspects of school operations. This position requires a strong commitment to Catholic education and the ability to foster a vibrant and nurturing learning environment for all students.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • · Mission Advancement:

    o Promote and uphold the Mission of St. Matthew School, aligning with the Mission of St. Matthew Parish and the IHM Charism.

    o Collaborate with evangelization efforts to deepen the faith life of students and families, encouraging active participation in parish events and regular Mass attendance.

    o Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive school environment where all children feel safe, valued, and loved.

    • Academic Leadership:

    o Assist the Principal in establishing and maintaining a positive and conducive learning environment.

    o Serve as a resource person in curriculum and instruction across all subject areas.

    o Ensure alignment between Archdiocesan curriculum, state/national standards, and school-wide instructional programs.

    o Oversee curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, including the Terra Nova Testing Program.

    o Study and evaluate new instructional techniques and technologies for potential classroom implementation.

    o Provide leadership in the area of technology integration, ensuring its effective use to enhance teaching and learning.

    • School Operations:

    o Assist the Principal in the general administration of the school, including:

    ▪ Staff development planning and implementation.

    o Student discipline and supervision.

    o School-wide events and activities (e.g., Catholic Schools Week, Christmas Program).

    o Accreditation processes.

    o Early Childhood certification requirements.

    o School handbook and calendar revisions.

    o Substitute teacher management.

    o Long-range school planning.

    o Serve as the Principal's representative at designated meetings.

    • Staff Support:

    o Mentor new teachers as requested by the principal.

    o Assist the Principal in the evaluation of teacher performance.

    • Parent and Community Engagement:

    o Encourage open communication and collaboration with parents regarding student academic and personal development.

    o Work with the advancement director to enhance the school's public image and media presence.

    Qualifications:

    • Master's Degree in Education or related field required.
    • Valid Pennsylvania teaching certification preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience in an elementary school setting.
    • Proven experience in curriculum development and implementation.
    • Strong understanding of child development and learning theories.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Proficiency in using technology for educational purposes.
    • Commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the school.
