    Job Description

    Position Overview:

    The Assistant Principal of Intervention at KIPP Kansas City plays a critical role in ensuring academic success for all students by overseeing intervention programs, implementing multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), and fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Reporting to the Executive Principal of Innovation & Achievement, this leader works collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families to accelerate learning for students who require additional support.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Instructional Leadership and MTSS Implementation
    * Lead the design and execution of intervention strategies and MTSS frameworks to address the needs of students requiring academic or behavioral support.
    * Analyze student performance data to identify trends, inform interventions, and track progress toward achieving student growth goals.
    * Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement targeted instructional plans that align with state standards and curriculum goals.
    
    • Team Development and Support
    * Coach and support K-8 interventionists in reading and math to ensure effective delivery of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
    * Provide guidance on best practices for targeted instruction, progress monitoring, and differentiation in both reading and math.
    * Facilitate professional development for interventionists and staff on evidence-based intervention strategies and the implementation of MTSS.
    * Partner with school leaders and teachers to ensure alignment between core instruction and intervention programs.
    
    • Family and Community Engagement
    * Actively engage families in the intervention process, providing updates on progress and collaborating to develop strategies for support at home.
    * Serve as a liaison between families, teachers, and external support services to coordinate comprehensive student support plans.
    
    • Compliance and Documentation
    * Ensure interventions and supports are documented in alignment with state and federal guidelines.
    * Monitor compliance with Academic Intervention Plans and other required accommodations or services
    
    • School Culture and Student Success
    * Promote a culture of high expectations and inclusivity, ensuring all students, regardless of ability or background, have equitable access to resources and opportunities.
    * Support the development of behavioral intervention plans and social-emotional learning initiatives that align with the school’s mission and vision.
    
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required; Master’s degree in Education, Administration, or a related area strongly preferred.
    • Minimum of three years of teaching experience, with a demonstrated record of success in improving student outcomes.
    • Leadership experience in an educational setting, particularly in designing and implementing intervention programs or MTSS.
    • Strong understanding of data analysis and its application in driving student achievement.

    Work Environment

    • Reports to work Monday-Friday and some weekends.
    • A typical school or office environment with frequent interruptions.

    Travel Requirements:

    • Ability to travel to work location.
