    Location: Concord West Side Elementary

    Terms of Employment : Length of year and salary to be determined by the School Board.

    EVALUATION : Evaluation of performance on this job will be in accordance with the provisions in the policy handbook.

    Essential Functions:

    • Recognize the basic dignities of students, parents and families, colleagues, and subordinates; exercise due care to protect the mental and physical safety of students, colleagues, and subordinates; and ensure actions best serve the school community.
    • Initiate and maintain collegial relationships with students, students' parents and families, colleagues, subordinates, and the school community.
    • Assist the principal in the establishment and maintainance of an orderly, safe school environment.
    • Assist the principal in the enforcement of the student code of conduct and administration of fair and developmentally appropriate student discipline.
    • Assist the principal in the supervision of the school's educational programming, including curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
    • Collaborate with teachers and teacher teams to monitor student achievement and lesson design.
    • Regularly supervise classroom instruction and learning.
    • Assist the principal in the design and administration of professional development opportunities for teachers, teams of teachers, and the entire teaching staff based on student learning needs.
    • Evaluate staff performance in accordance with the corporation evaluation plan.
    • Assist the principal in interviewing and hiring the school's certified and classified staff members.
    • Coordinate and supervise activities at the direction of the principal.
    • Continuously strive to learn and develop new skills to support student learning.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Master's degree
    • Valid educator license or permit as required by the Indiana Department of Education for the position

    Fitness for Duty Requirements:

    • Manipulate curricular resources and instructional tools.

    POSITION PURPOSE : Administers school student personnel program in elementary, middle, or high school. Counsels and disciplines students, performing any combination of the following tasks.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : Assists principal in supervising classroom teachers and support staff within the school organization. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting the principal in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    QUALIFICATIONS :

    1. Appropriate certification as required by the Indiana Department of Education.

    2. Ability to plan and organize.

    3. Skills in human relations.

    4. Ability to communicate effectively before groups of students and parents.

    5. Other qualifications as deemed desirable by the School Board.
