Established in 1977, Montessori School of Durham is a vibrant, independent Montessori school serving 170 students ages 6 months through 6th grade. MSD’s campus is nestled among seven wooded acres in Durham, North Carolina, only two hours from the mountains and the coast.
The Assistant Toddler Teacher partners with the Lead Teacher in a classroom of 12 students, ages 15 months - 36 months. This is a full-time, salaried position in a year-round program starting January 2025. The hours are 10:30 to 6:00, Monday through Friday.
COMPENSATION - starting salary is $41,600

Applicants must have experience working with Infants and Toddlers, and experience in a Montessori classroom is preferred. There is a physical requirement to the position, including but not limited to picking up and carrying a child up to 60 lbs and the mobility necessary to reach a child quickly in an emergency. Work will be conducted indoors and outdoors. Successful candidates will be able to work in a collaborative teamwork atmosphere; have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; be well-organized and detail-oriented with the ability to take responsibility for and follow through on projects assigned, including committee assignments; ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality; ability to see; ability to hear; and possess electronic and computer literacy.
