    Job Description

    NBC News Digital is looking for an Assistant Video Editor to join its digital video production unit. The ideal candidate should have a wide technical fluency, aptitude for growth and be able to juggle multiple priorities and workstreams throughout the day. They should have a passion for storytelling, familiarity of the growing digital content creation landscape and be comfortable working in a multi-platform digital production environment. They will assist a team of video editors, graphics artists, operations staff and producers in the daily production of a variety of content to support NBC News’ digital video productions' efforts. They should be passionate about news and storytelling and should be ready for a face-paced environment.

    Job Duties

    • Ingest and prepare media, including transcoding, organizing and syncing footage
    • Perform basic video editing tasks; radio cuts, lifts, trims, reframes, versioning, social promos, and take on more straight-forward edit assignments
    • Provide technical and operational support to editors as needed
    • Prepare video content for distribution to partners and affiliates
    • Manage and archive completed projects
    • Help maintain templated project files, supporting documentation, and media libraries
    • Manage multiple projects and communication between stakeholders, simultaneously, with tight deadlines
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • 2+ years of experience video editing, assistant video editing, media managing, or related field
    • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe Premiere and Adobe Media Encoder
    • Strong understanding of video production workflows, including ingesting, syncing, organizing, editing, encoding, and delivery of media
    • Knowledge of broadcast and digital video post-production standards
    • Social media savvy and a passion for emerging technologies
    • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational and time-management skills
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Knowledge of Avid and other industry-standard NLEs
    • Experience in a broadcast production environment
    • Experience working in a fast-paced news environment
    • Experience working with motion graphics templates and knowledge of After Effects
    • Basic proficiency at color correction, especially with knowledge of DaVinci Resolve
    • Basic proficiency at editing sound, especially with knowledge of Adobe Audition
    • Experience shooting with a variety of professional video cameras, DSLRs, etc.

    Additional Requirements

    • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
