Our law firm has a full-time associate attorney position available now and we’re looking for the right professional to join our team. Our team members: • Are extremely organized • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills • Have an exceptional eye for details • Carefully proofread to avoid typos • Do not get easily distracted • Excel at following detailed written procedures, which we have for most functions in the office • When faced with a situation for which there are no written procedures, are quick to analyze various factors, come up with the best solution, and then suggest a new written procedure should that situation arise again • Have confidence to act on their own when appropriate • Are competent • Multi-task extremely well • Hate a slow-paced environment • Love a fast-paced environment • Are proficient with computers and troubleshooting various hardware and software issues • Enjoy learning new things that will make their jobs easier • Have thick skin and tolerate respectful criticism well • Express themselves without being disrespectful, even when upset; are calm, cool and collected Responsibilities: • Draft documents such as correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, settlement agreements, and contracts to be used proceedings and contract negotiations • Perform legal research, prepare for and attend hearings or other legal proceedings, and give general counsel under the supervision of senior associate attorneys • Resolve cases efficiently by using communicating effectively with and working alongside senior attorneys and paralegals • Keep files organized to make sure the most recent updates are accessible to other attorneys, paralegals, and staff • Review client issues on legal matters, analyze available options, and diligently work to determine the best course of action Qualifications: • Willingness to learn from senior attorneys to meet our client needs and grow our client base • Solid communication skills and problem-solving skills required in order to work with clients, staff members and senior attorneys • Candidates must have passed the bar exam • Completion of a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school • Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association) • Minimum of 3-5 years of family law experience • Will not accept a candidate who does not have litigation experience and is afraid of going to trial tomorrow • Must be proficient in performing legal research and writing • Must be proficient in drafting pleadings, briefs, affidavits, discovery, and proposed orders, as well as correspondence, memorandum, and opinion letters • Must be well-versed in the rules of evidence, introducing evidence, and civil procedure. Experience with taking and defending depositions is a plus • Must be barred to practice law in Georgia • Must have first-chaired at least 25 trials without support or assistance • Must be able to show empathy to clients who need support • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and other Microsoft Office products • Proficiency with West Law Next • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and cases Required license or certification: • Handle trial from beginning to end • Jury Trial Experience • Notary • Georgia Bar License • Open to being admitted into the Northern District of Georgia (if not already barred) Compensation: $65,000 - $95,000 yearly
